I wasnt sure where to post this so apologies if i got it wrong.

We moved in October last year and i quickly noticed that one of the neighbours is a bit odd. Never opens his curtains type. He has a HUGE dog, its massive but he is regularly out and never walks it. The gardens are small so it must get nothing more than a place to poo.

Since noticing two other neighbours have mentioned it to me. It seems is been this way for years.

It really upsets me to think of this poor dog never being let out and I'm tempted to call the rspca. But part of me thinks, its been like that for years should i bother? The dog might love him to bits, what would happen to it if they took it away :-(

What should i do?!

I'd call them. If an animal isn't being cared for then it deserves the chance of that. Having called the RSPCA I don't think they will do much though sadly.

Yes, please call them, if only for advice. Perhaps your neighbour needs strong words/guidance/a warning/support - a good RSPCA officer should know what to do.

Big dogs - any dog - have to be let out. You could post in pets - I think there's a dogs thread - for further suggestions.

My dog doesn't get walked much , due to my fear of BSL but she's loved and cared gets go on weekends away and three weeks holidays a year.
I'd be devastated if I was reported , maybe if it's a big dog he walks it at night .
My neighbour doesn't walk her dog as she is ill , but I'd not report them.
Think you need to consider the neighbour as well.

Plus tbh unless dog is mistreated they unlikely to act plus my experience of them their services are not brilliant.

Wow, really, you need to call RSPCA. You would do the same if it weren't a dog but a kid, right ?

Gatekeeper · 22/03/2015 08:35

You can try but they won't do anything; our old neighbours used to leave their dogs in the garden for days at a time while they went on benders and they still didn't do anything because me and the other ndn used to put water out for them and dog food

Yes call them. Animals don't have a voice so we have to speak up for them. Thank you for caring.
