Confused I left ds unsupervised for a minute and now I am paying the price! Please tell me a way of cleaning this up. Tried baby wipes without success. Thank you. It is dulux matt paint btw.

My little boy often does this. I used a damp wash cloth and rubbed enough to dampen paint slightly and once it dried the stain was gone

Licking? Only if you're sure it's chocolate, mind you.

Sadly werewolf the chocolate itself came off with the wipe! I am left with greasy marks. Sad
MissQ so effectively taking a layer of the paint off then?

Some washing powder diluted in warm water. Check in an are which is hidden by something first. I found it works great.

Magic Eraser cleaning sponges. They really are amazing. Can't be used on eco paint or lime wash though.

Well washing liquid cuts through grease so think you would need a detergent, like Crazy suggests.

Good luck!

Don't suppose you have any leftover paint and a mini roller handy, just in case??!

Tried detergent and then jif (on the advice of my dm) without success so gave up! Will try washing up liquid today and see if I can find a magic eraser as mentioned by monstrous. If all else fails will repaint - there are other bits that need touching up anyway. Sigh!

I thought we'd bought the tough wipeable paint then remembered we wanted a poncy colour so couldn't! Grin

If you haven't got rid of the grease, it might show through if you just paint over it. You may need to put stain block on first.

lostindubai · 21/03/2015 17:43

Thanks wow that's a good point.

for a greasy mark, you could try dabbing with white spirit on a soft cloth (don't rub). If you are willing to repaint you have nothing to lose, but grease will prevent paint adhering.

Water softens emulsion paint, so it may wrinkle or rub off when wet. AFAIK white spirit will not affect it, but I can't remember trying.

Silk finish emulsion is easier to clean, and gets less dirty, than matt.
