Desperately Seeking Laundry Advice

DS (3) quite fancies himself as Picasso now that he has a fancy new easel from Mothercare. I'm thrilled my walls seem to be safe again but for some reason his clothes really seem to be getting a rough ride. Can't get him to keep any kind of cover on so I think I just need to step up my game in the laundry department. Does anyone have any tricks for removing stains left by poster paints? Nothing special, just the kids paints from ELC and Tesco. And advice would be very much appreciated.

Vanish liquid get paint out of school shirts.

ChippyMinton · 17/03/2015 23:21

soak in cold water before the paint dries, then wash.

dress him in one of your old t shirts as a coverall.

Make him paint naked Grin

If you have problems getting the paint out (TBH I can't remember it being too much of a problem) just make sure he's not wearing his best clothes and enjoy his 'customisation' of them. Kids clothes don't need to be pristine, so long as they're hygenic enough. Smile

Thanks so much everyone! cece we have moved on to the painting-in-socks-and-pants stage which looks mad but I've just airily told DH it's all about the artistic flow daaaahhhhhly!!!

Erroll you are absolutely right and I couldn't agree more. Unfortunately I didn't engage my brain before the last painting session. I work from home and just said "Yes, yes, paint away...I'll be there in a sec." Anyway, he DID paint away!! EVERYWHERE! And this all happened before I got a chance to change him into his scruffs. No matter. It's only clothes ?

Chippy, they've gone through the wash already so I missed my chance of a pre-soak this time but great tip on the t-shirts. I'm a bit of a jeans and t-shirt girl and my wardrobe is definitely due a cull!

Is it liquid paint? If so put a little bit of washing up liquid in it before he uses it. (Used to do that when I worked in an infant school).

agree with soaking in cold water + bio powder.
what you can also try it rubbing the stain with butter or oil and the rubbing in washing up liquid before washing.
if you can hang clothes outside to dry, uv light (even on a lightly cloudy day) bleaches stins out.

on the cover front, my dc never liked plastic aprons, but were fine with and old t-shirt from dh to wear over their clothes.

More brilliant ideas miusmous. Thanks very much for taking the time ??
