Comfortable enough for TV/Movie use etc? - love the look - unsure of how supportive the backs are !

Plus what else do you think is very stylish for the ££££ at Ikea

(live along way away so need list before I go )

Besta units - incredible storage, hugely versatile. they've transformed our living room.
Dioder lights - for inside display units, on top of units, around the back of the TV - clear or changing colour
Oversized candle lanterns for the garden
Bedding is incredible value for money and great selection.

Am loving their vast sheepskin rugs in dark brown - just need to save up a bit!

Gozogozo · 09/03/2015 22:40

I tried those poang chairs & couldn't believe how comfortable they were! Mind you, my feet were killing me from schlepping round the store, so that may have coloured my perception...

I thought the Besta units were great too, but they have discontinued the white oak in favour of piano black or v dark brown, which scuppered my lounge set up.

Freheten (sp?) chaise sofa bed great.
Hemnes glass fronted bookcases great as long as you dont want a perfect finish - they are more shabby chic in white.

Billy bookcases with Oxberg glass doors - used to be nicely rounded but now thin, square & v cheap looking.

There is a gorgeous range called Liatorp which just didn't work for our living room, but I really tried hard to make it work. Looked goid on the shop floir as well as in the catalogue.

HTH!

Poang chairs look great & are very comfortable. We have two, one fabric covered & one leather, and we love them. The matching footstools are great, too.

I love their sheepskin rugs, and discovered (on MN of course!) that they can be washed in the machine on a wool cycle and come up as good as new.

Poang chairs are very good, I agree. We've used IKEA a lot over the years when we were serial renters so have tried lots of their stuff.

My favourite item is their towels. They aren't those huge fluffy things but they are very absorbent, lightweight AND they wrap around you. They wash and dry very quickly - I've hunted high and low and can't find towels I prefer. (I also like their fitted sheets; 100 pc cotton)

fussychica · 10/03/2015 18:29

Poangs are great - we've had one for years. We currently have leather but previously had the basic cream one. My DH has back problems but finds the Poang excellent for support and comfort.

We have a lovely Ektorp sofa in the conservatory - comfortable and durable.

We've had kitchens from them in the past and found them very good. have just bought loads of interior fitments for my latest kitchen (not IKEA unfortunately as needed bespoke so ££££s)

Wardrobes with all their interior fittings and MALM chests of drawers.

Spatulas, garlic press, clips for bags and candles.

I don't go often but usually spend quite a lot when I do!

We just got the Freiheiten sofa bed and its excellent so far. I went in the shop on Thursday morning, they "picked" it for me, it was delivered later that day by two great blokes, and assembled yesterday by two more great blokes. Never known service like it. Ok, you pay for delivery and assembly but well worth it imo

LittleRobots · 12/03/2015 00:22

Ektorp corner sofa bed.
Trofast trays are the best at toy storage.
Billy for bookcase stuff.

I'm open to rug/ towel suggestions ....

Davros · 12/03/2015 09:02

I'm going tomorrow to get a rug so also interested in recommendations

GoooRooo · 12/03/2015 09:06

Another vote for Trofast storage - it has transformed DS's bedroom.

Also the Ikea highchair is amazing and such good value.

Our kitchen is also Ikea - great value, good quality - as good if not better than our previous Howden's kitchen.

Mostlyjustaluker · 12/03/2015 09:06

Glasses nd knife sharpener.

yomellamoHelly · 12/03/2015 09:14

No-one's mentioned the PAX wardrobes yet. Love that you can personalise them to the nth degree (and keep going back for more as your needs change).

Really like the (now defunct) Expedit range too.

Our Poangs have gone very bouncy with age so sag alot when you sit in them.

AlfAlf · 12/03/2015 09:14

The bags of frozen cinnamon buns are bloody lovely.
Umbrellas, they're huge and if blown inside out by the wind they just flick back again without breaking.
Picture frames.

I must get one of those Poang chairs.

BikeRunSki · 12/03/2015 09:23

Meatballs
Pizza
Alphabet biscuits

HermioneGrangerHair · 13/03/2015 09:10

Poang are good. PAX system is good. Gingerbread dough is good.

And now I want a cinnamon bun.

atticusclaw · 13/03/2015 10:07

We have three poang chairs that don't go with the interior style of the house but we use them out in the garden - they're lightweight so easy to move about and far more comfortable than most garden furniture.

OrangeOwl · 14/03/2015 14:13

Poang - so comfy
Malm drawers
Billy bookcases
Ektorp sofas
Lack side/coffee tables
Washing up brush with suction end
meatballs
those marzipan cake things

Gatekeeper · 14/03/2015 14:42

we have 4 poang chair all cloth. The two we bought most recently smell awful when you wash the covers...like stale fish which lingers for days. We reported this to Ikea but they wanted to send the covers off for several weeks to investigate and we didn't want to be without them.

very comfy despite the pong

base9 · 14/03/2015 14:48

Billy bookcases are great, especially if you have a huge book collection and need lots of them. We also bought an expensive antique dining table then cheap but stylish dining chairs from Ikea.

magimedi · 14/03/2015 15:03

Stayed with DS last weekk, who has a couple of Poang chairs. Both DH, who is very tall, & I loved them. We both have mild back issues & found them so comfortable.

I have a couple of Billys that I've had for at least 20 years. They have had about 7/8 house moves & I have only ever had to tighten the bolts on them once.

butterfliesinmytummy · 14/03/2015 15:07

We have a poang rocking chair .... Omg, love it!

DontDrinkandFacebook · 14/03/2015 15:10

The Poang chairs are fabulous and very comfy. I think they are an iconic modern day classic. Ditto Billy bookcases. Simple, functional, unobtrusive, perfect.

I also really like their frozen vegetable and potato patty things. Grin

DramaAlpaca · 14/03/2015 15:10

I can confirm the longevity of the Billy bookcases. We bought two for our first house in 1989 and after a few house moves they are still going strong. We've bought more since as we have loads of books.

In the food section, their blueberry & raspberry jam is the nicest I've ever tasted.
