Need something that can cope with dog & cat hair, plus food spilled by 2 small boys. Used to have a dyson & found it great but it's passed its best these days & I can't get on with DH's (that he raves about) at all.

I've just bought a cordless G-Tech - only bought it today so can't give much advice Grin - but I've had a Dyson, Miele, Vax and some other posh make that hotels use and have never found any of them that good.

When I worked in a hotel the housekeepers used a henry each. The dyson was rubbish.

Love my Sebo upright. Bought it at John Lewis.

We've got a miele cat and dog. It's good, I'd recommend it

DemonChild · 03/03/2015 15:44

I second the Sebo upright - I hate hoovering, but it has made it (sort of) bearable.

HungryDam · 03/03/2015 15:56

I love dyson. But heard good things about Miele cat and dog. I hate the Henry, rubbish!

It depebds what you're after. Do you prefer uprights or cylinders? What is your house like? Do you have mostly carpet or mostly bare floors?

If you prefer uprights and have mostly carpet, go for a Sebo X4 Pet. If you prefer cylinders, Miele cat and dog. The Sebo is without a doubt the highest performing and most reliable upright you can get. It's not too heavy, but has quite a wide cleaning path for carpets and comes with a full stair reach hose. The Miele comes with 2 floorheads - a turbobrush for carpets which I found is essential for getting rid of pet hair and a straight suction floortool for hard floors.

If you have a mixture of floor types and prefer uprights, check out the Sebo Felix Pet. You can switch the brushroll off on the Felix for cleaning hard floors so it won't damage the floor or scatter the dust & dirt around.

If you have mixed floor types and prefer cylinders, again, Miele Cat & Dog all the way.

Sorry, I forgot to mention, if you have all hard floors, an upright or Miele Cat & Dog would be wasted. You wouldn't ever need to use a vacuum with a rotating brushroll on a hard floor as this will scratch the floor and just scatter the dirt around. For all bare floors, a big standard Miele, Sebo cylinder or a Henry would be far better suited

Rabbit we've got a Miele Cat and Dog and I find the turbo brush head brilliant on hard floors. It also comes with a hard floor head too but we never use it. I admit that it does find dried up peas a bit of a challenge to pick up but general food debris is fine.

I've found the Miele cat and dog to be too fragile. (Motors etc). When the 3rd one died in 5 years I bought a Henry....Smile
