Very Old/Antique sewing machine repair - Gloucestershire

Can anyone recommend me a good sewing machine repair company who can cope with a very old machine, in Gloucestershire (dont ask for much do I!)

Story is I've been given my great great grandmothers Fister and Rossman sewing machine. It has seized but was working a few years ago. I want to get it repaired as I want to use it again. It is though over 100yrs old and I want to make sure it is in good hands.

Hopefully someone here can help with a recommendation of someone who knows how to handle these machines and repair to to full working order.

You can probably get it going yourself by applying lots of sewing machine oil in all the oiling holes. There's loads of information on the internet on how to do this. We bought an ancient jones hand crank machine from a charity shop and after loads of oiling of anything that moved, it's running smoothly.

There is Newport Sewing Centre just over the border who do repairs, or may be able to point you to somewhere in Glos?

Crocky - did you get your Jones in the last few months? It might have been mine!

You might get more information by using a note in local PO window or similar (costs about 50p for two weeks) if this system is still available.

I got the jones last summer in a local charity shop which seems to,get it's stock fro house clearances. It was in Northern Ireland. the machine was very dirty. Cleaned up fairly well.

Ah well - enjoy it, they're beautiful old machines. Smile
