BUMFLAPS ! The plumber has just been to give me a quote and has walked chunks of mud on every single one of my stairs.

I didn't realise until we were on our way downstairs from the 3rd floor.

Carpet is short pile and cream/beige/neutral coloured.

Best way to tackle it ?

Should I wait for it to dry before I attempt to clean it up ?

I have carpet shampoo (meant for a Bissell cleaner), if I mix that with hot water and give it a good scrub, will that do ? Or should I get some vanish type stuff ?

He's made a right bloody mess . There are over 30 stairs to clean with patches on 3 landings too.

The mud was on the edge of the stair treads so I suspect tryig to haul the monster Bissell up to the top of the house and then balance it precariously on the stairs would've been an accident waiting to happen !!! I managed to get it off with a stiff brush and some choice cursing

Plumber is back today doing the work and the first thing he said to me was "I've got my nice clean trainers on for you today Mrs xxxxx" and showed me the (spotless) soles . Good man, my disapproving looks and harrumphing obviously had more of an impact than I gave them credit for.
