How to wash cloth nappies...cos I've forgotten

I'm just washing things ready for imminent second baby and I have a few cloth nappies.
We will mostly use disposables but I thought I might as well wash the cloth ones just in case.

So, hot wash? cool wash? with or without fabric conditioner? I can't remember how I washed them last time.

Cheers

I go with a cold rinse first followed by a hot wash with detergent and then another cold rinse to make sure the detergent is all out. Definitely no fabric conditioner as it will reduce the absorbency of the nappies.

Thank you.

I had a feeling the conditioner was important.

Get some napisan, it kills all the bacteria without having to wash them at 60 and it's awesome for washing your whites.

Definitely second the napisan. I did most of mine at 40 and only did the really soiled ones at 60. And hang outside if you can, it helps bleach the cloth.

Depends what nappies you have. Napisan is not good for ones with elastic or waterproof parts. If you have terry squares then napisan is probably fine, but it is vicious stuff hence it getting things so white.

I do cold rinse, 40 wash with a small amount of non bio, cold rinse.

Napisan is fine with pocket nappies and wraps. It hasn't affected our's at all, it's not vicious and can be used with all nappies/bibs etc. It isn't a cholrine beach so won't weaken fabrics the same way, instead it is a oxygen based bleach and it is anti-bacterial.
