Toaster not working, ? Fuse but sealed plug

Can anyone advise, we have had a lite dualit toaster for less than 12 months, I think the fuse has gone but can't open the plug to change or I am being very dim.
Should I take back to John Lewis where we bought it but no receipt or local electrician shop.

I would just buy another but it wasn't cheap

There should be a little red or white rectangle on the plug to locate the fuse and replace.

No rectangle, 2 small screws at base but nothing else. All quite tight, can't loosen cover at all, think it is doomed

Picture of the plug?

Cut off the plug and fit a new one?

CatsClaus · 16/02/2015 09:24

well if it's under twelve months then it's still under g'tee.

but there must be access to the fuse surely!

sealed plugs do not have screws.

Looking at the plug on my Dualit it has two screws which you would have to undo to take the top off the plug and change the fuse. It is not a sealed plug.

It is abnormal for a plug fuse to blow. It would only happen if the appliance was faulty or e.g. somebody poked a knife in it.

Have you tried it in a different socket?

perhaps the fuse cartridge is slightly beyond centre and sticking out at one end

Thanks for your help, have passed fiddly putting together onto DS as a break from college work.

This happened to us the other day - it wasn't the fuse it was currants from cooking buns caught up in the elements. The tray was spotless so didn't think of that but the troubleshooting page on the manufacturers website said tip it up and shake it. Lo and behold out came loads of stuff. Plugged it back in and all fine. Hope this might be the same for you.

Hello, I know this thread is old but it did genuinely solve my dualit toaster query - silver sticker duly unstuck and mystery screw revealed. Thank you and good luck in all your parenting endeavours x

Yes I known it’s a zombie thread but having opened up my Dualit plug and changed the fuse (proud dance) I now can’t get the bloody thing back together - it doesn’t seem to fit and the metal bit that the new fuse goes in is all wonky like it’s in separate parts that don’t want to be together. I really tried not to buy a new toaster…… 🙏
