How to get melted wax crayon off a radiator?

Just that we habe several crayons that have melted down the radiator. The radiator now resembles a rainbow - I have tried rubbing it off while hot with newspapee but the wax comes away buy the dye remains less noticeable but still there! Any tips?

Watching! I also have a delightful green smear down my radiator and a landlord inspection next week!

Have you tried brown paper and an iron? This method gets wax out of fabric and carpet.

Pop a piece of brown paper, like parcel wrapping paper, over the crayon and apply a warm iron to the other side of the paper (don't turn the steam function on). The iron warms the wax on the other side of the paper and the wax should sink into the paper.

Alternatively, a bit of scratch cleaner on a cloth might help to remove the dye.

If neither of these work, buy some radiator paint and just spray over the marked section of the radiator (make sure you get the right colour and finish for the radiator).

WD40 on a cloth. Toothpaste and an old toothbrush. Both should work.

I make dentures out of wax and the best thing to get wax out of clothes is some absorbent paper and a hair drier. Put the paper on the wax and blast it til it melts, the paper will soak it up.

you can also try white spirit.

Let the radiator go cold first and open the windows as it evaporates.

Like wowfudge said... WD40 or any penetrating oil. Gets crayon off of any hard surface.

When I found this out, I literally ran round my house finding the bits of crayon that had bugged me for months! I was really excited, ha, I knew there was a reason I painted my house with silk paint!

(I do like the method worksallhours mentioned! Never heard that before I don't think.)

A grease & oil remover would get it off.
