We are in the process of having the bathroom done. Thinking about having the floor tiled, but wondered if it is very slippery/suiltable for lo's?

was going to answer along these lines -
scales, bin, magazines, loo brush

but now see that wasn't really what you meant!

we have painted floorboards which are warm and not slippy but mark really easily and show dirt ever so quickly.

Am getting tiles for downstairs loo / shower room eventually.

HumphreyComfrey · 22/10/2006 17:29

Wet towels mostly!

We have tiles, but they're quite bumpy (I think the phrase I'm searching for is 'of a roughened texture'!), so they're not slippery.

loomer · 22/10/2006 17:31

Reclaimed oak floorboards, which have been oiled. They are lovely and warm and easy to look after. Tiles would worry me with the slippy-head-bangy factor. Oh, and also cold for little feet (and big feet of course) unless you go for underfloor heating. Lino probably a very practical choice.

SSSandy · 22/10/2006 17:33

Marble slabs, not very practical for floors I don't think

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 22/10/2006 17:34

the occasional woodlouse (and some cheap crappy plastic tiles ugh)

FrannyandZooey · 22/10/2006 17:35

We have lino type stuff which is patterned to look like stained floorboards

It sounds horrible but is actually great, east to clean etc

I had the same as Franny in my last bathroom, but put down carpet in this one. I really wish I hadn't. Nightmare to clean and horrible when it gets wet. Can't wait to change it.

hermykne · 22/10/2006 17:53

ours is tiled. mine have been on it since they went in the bath. you just need to ensure their feet are dry really.
ds does like to now pour the water out on the floor! so its handy to mop up.

tiles are nice and clean lookng too

Trinityrhino · 22/10/2006 17:55

we have seale4d for bathroom use cork tiles. we're not keen but it was a rush job cause there was long pilke carpet UGH

oh and also dirty clothes, wet towels, empty loo rolls etc etc

SPACEdoutzombieCADET · 22/10/2006 17:56

tiles that are textured so no slippery surface

treacletart · 22/10/2006 18:02

Painted white floorboards - used pva and sawdust inbetween the boards and a couple of coats of floor paint on the top. Looks great, warm underfoot, and its easy to clean. I'm expecting it to need repainting every year or so, but it was so easy to do.

pippo · 22/10/2006 18:02

thanks all, looks like lino type stuff is coming out on top along side roughened tiles and reclaimed floor boards.......
Guess the budget will be the decider.
Deffo don't want carpet again - got that now and it is yukkity yuk.

I have blue vinyl that looks like mosaic tiles in my (not quite finished) new bathroom

tiles with underfloor heating. V. easy upkeep, artfully accessorised with el cheapo Ikea bathmat to avoid slipping.

Smurfgirl · 22/10/2006 18:28

Blue and aqua square patterned vinyl

Tutter · 22/10/2006 18:32

marble

sounds terribly desirable but i'd be happier with wood - ds's forehead has lost countless slippery post-bath arguments with it in

Tutter · 22/10/2006 18:32

in?

the random word elves got in there

HumphreyComfrey · 22/10/2006 18:38

how about this for your batroom?

batroom idea

pippo · 22/10/2006 18:52

We 're putting bamboo flooring in ours. Looks like wood.

Gobbledispook · 22/10/2006 18:55

Same as franny with a nice white 'rug'/'mat' that I bought in Portugal about 15 years ago.

PanicPants · 22/10/2006 18:57

I have laminate which looks like tiles and is textured so not slippy. It's specifically for bathroomms and kitchens.

Was really sceptical about at first but my sister had it fitted and it looks fab, so I blatently copied
