Have you turned your heating on yet?

We are oil fired, bills have been huge. We haven't had our heating on yet, wearing extra layers and we've made a decision that it will be going off at 9pm and we'll have to snuggle up under a duvet in the evenings!!

No, not yet. Haven't felt the need. To be honest, it's an exceptional year if we have it on before November. Then it's off again by about April most years, early May if it's unusually cold.

Charleesunnysunsun · 20/10/2006 09:12

Yep we have a roaring fire going as i type

Saves on our huge oil bill

lipsbite · 20/10/2006 15:41

lilymolly · 20/10/2006 16:00

scarysuejonez · 20/10/2006 16:01

yes... on
and off
and on
and off
etc ad nauseum

West London can't decide if its summer or winter

AnAngelWithin · 20/10/2006 16:02

nope but i just put the electric fire on in the morning to just take the chill off the lounge.

southeastastra · 20/10/2006 16:08

it's strangely warm for this time of year! i've only put it on to dry the washing

bloodyhowler · 20/10/2006 16:09

Can't decide here either so have been burning asdas finest ready to go logs £1.40 each and they heat our huge living room for about 3+ hours and best of all no mess thoroughly recommend them

SCARErenity · 20/10/2006 16:19

We never turned ours off, it's thermostat controlled so just doesn't come on when it's warm. So far it hasn't turned itself on yet (and it's set on 18 atm I think)

TortUREoiseChamber · 21/10/2006 22:21

Have just put mine on for a bit. Im cold!

foxinbubblesletsmaketrouble · 21/10/2006 22:38

We've had ours on for about 1 hour each evening since October 1st. Its been on for about three hours today as DH has cold and I need to dry the washing!

paddingtonbear1 · 21/10/2006 22:44

had ours on for about an hour a day for the past week. Part of it is to dry washing as our tumble dryer broke before summer and we haven't bought another yet!

bananabread · 21/10/2006 23:28

yessssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Hattie05 · 21/10/2006 23:58

No heating here! washing is taking about two days to dry but the rest of us are feeling ok. Upstairs windows open 24hrs a day too i like my fresh air and plus trying to keep bills cheaper this year.

GhoulsToo · 22/10/2006 00:01

yes but regularly yet

Gillian76 · 22/10/2006 00:04

We have ours on but I think it's too cold without and too warm with. Can't seem to reach a happy medium yet.

We are in the West of Scotland.

SoMuchToBats · 22/10/2006 00:05

why do people keep starting threads about heating when our BOILER IS BROKEN!!!!!! Ok, I'm really grateful the weather is really mild for October - but - otherwise we'd be freezing. And yes, we only live in Suffolk!

MissyBabee · 22/10/2006 15:46

yep, and our boiler is broken (again )

waiting for the british gas engineer who was supposed to be here this morning. i rang to find out where he was, now he'll be here by 6pm. sooooo fed up!

foxinsocks · 22/10/2006 15:54

no, ours won't be on for a while I imagine

but then we're in the middle of a long line of terraced houses and our house is very narrow so stays warm as it is (apart from the draught from the old wooden windows!)

hermykne · 22/10/2006 15:56

god today is so mild and the windows are open!!
