Has anyone ever dyed something at 40°, and then washed it at 60°?

I've recently bought new bedding on the internet and it is a bit lighter than I thought it would be. It is cotton, so should be OK to dye, but I just wondered how it would be for washing after it had been dyed. I always wash bedding at 60° but Wash and Dye is for 40°, so does this mean that the dye will come out if I wash at 60°?

Sorry, the degrees symbol on my keyboard hasn't translated to my post!

It won't come straight out, but over time will most probably fade more quickly than if washed at 40 (all fabrics fade eventually, regardless of temperature washed at) I was bedding at 60 too. Howrver, if you want to wash bedding at 40, add a laundry disenfectant such as Dettol, not Napisan though as that's racked with Bleach and will probably fade it quicker than a 60 wash will.

I have done that often with clothes, bedlinen & curtains. PP is right; they will fade over time with 60 degree washes but you can always redye. I have re dyed my cotton velvet curtains every fourth year as I only wash them every year. Clothes tend to be recycled before they are too faded. Bedding has actually lasted longest, which might be to do with the fabric texture?
Anyway, I use the dylon machine dye & think it has been worthwhile.
