Can anyone help with tips to remove writing from soft wood dining table please? Is there anything I can leave on to soak it because I really dont want to scrub it off. Thanks.

oh no. Dont know! We always sand our table down (its made of beech) every 6 months and retreat with wax. That tends to get rid of all the marks and dents.

How about using the JML Magic Eraser block (bought mine in Asda)? it's brill for getting off loads of marks. I could try it on biro for you if you like.

Hey Northstar - I've just gone and tested it out for you. I've just found an old pen mark (could be biro or permanent marker pen) on our table and given it a quick rub with the eraser block. Needed a bit of elbow grease but it's gone

Great NM thank you I will go find one, thanks

I know hairspray removes biro - however try it on a unoticeable spot first. It works without causing damage to leather so should be okay.

Northstar my table was very expensive and I was pretty sad when it first got marked. But now with over 15 years of family life scrawled and dented into it it has become one of our most treasured possessions.Once it has got dings all over it evenly it looks quite dignified in its distress

That sounds lovely Lorina, but I am renting at the moment and it isnt my table. Will def. try the hairspray when dd finally drops off to sleep - let you know how I get on later.

Oh no. I havent tried it on my table (far too late for that!) but Nottsmum is right those magic erasers do shift all sorts of things. If it leaves a rub mark then you could polish over it.Hope it works
