Online food shop. Which best?

HAve had another late delivery from tesco this morning so am thinking about trying somewhere else. Did a few ocado shops over Xmas but found their website quite confusing and they were more expensive. How about sainsbury? Are they any good?

I like sainsburys. Find the delivery drivers nice and hardly ever get subs. Slightly annoying that you can't use in store vouchers online but I bought a delivery pass and am pleased with the service

I have a just two year old and an 11 month oldand really rate their nappies and wipes

Chavaloy · 08/01/2015 20:11

For deliveries I always use Sainsburys. They have only once been late (and phoned to let me know). Always reliable. The delivery guys are always nice, helpful and informative. I go for the free after 2pm deliveries - or otherwise the £1 deliveries. I wouldn't pay more than this.
I never allow substitutes, and there is rarely anything missing. Occasionally stuff that is too close to sell by date, but it's always in a blue bag, and the driver is happy to take it straight back.

Another vote for Sainsburys. Very rarely have substitutions and delivery's are always on time

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 08/01/2015 20:20

I have used Asda, Tesco and Sainsburys.

Asda is the cheapest (food and delivery) and I have had a few delivery problems, but that was over a year ago.

Had no problems with Tesco. Their 'Click and collect' was good too.

Sainsburys has always been good but the basket is always more expensive.

To be honest I rotate amongst them all as I like different things from the different shops.

QuiteQuietly · 08/01/2015 20:36

I think it really depends on the local depot/delivery store. Sainsburys used to be by far the best where we lived before. Moved 100miles and Sainsburys is terrible - stuff out of stock, random subsitutions and vans loaded without overhead cover meaning that if it's been raining, stuff is sitting in plastic boxes full of water. I hop around with offers, but mostly using Waitrose at the moment as free delivery.

Has anyone tried Morrison's?

Errrmmcantthinkofone · 08/01/2015 20:57

Yes morrisons are the best Grin ordered a few times from them. Last 2 deliverys arrived about half hour before they should have and one was a big xmas shop. Really friendly drivers. Good dates on food. Really well packed not just chucked in the bags.

Errrmmcantthinkofone · 08/01/2015 20:59

O and they only take money after delivery not that daft ghost payment thing asda do. I have only had 2 substitusions ever.

PrincessOfChina · 08/01/2015 21:01

I second the idea that it depends on your local store. We only have city sized stores locally (so no big out of town sized ones) so get a lot of substitutions from Tesco and Sainsbo's. I use Ocado as a result and am a big fan.

LtGreggs · 08/01/2015 21:07

I'm with the poster who says it really depends on local store & drivers.

If I go to shop, I choose Sainsbury's as better products. But for delivery, convenience & service are my key criteria. Tesco every time.

I know the local drivers by name now, few substitutions & they are reasonable ones, always refund with zero hassle if I find anything missing on order, deliver without bags straight to kitchen (Sainsburys leave in carrier bags in the hall), cheap delivery slots (and even cheaper with delivery plan thingy). Driver calls me if they are going to be early or late, and will re-jig route to suit me if that's a problem.

(This glowing report from Tesco Stirling Smile)

Hikari01 · 10/01/2015 14:04

I use Sainsbury's, have for years and only had a problem once (driver didn't show up). But I feel that they are getting quite expensive nowadays.

MrsMook · 10/01/2015 18:05

I've been happy with Morrisons and Sainsburys. My only glitch with Morrisons is that they didn't stock some dairy free specialist foods that they have in store, which is why I still favour going to the shop (plus we can get Friday night tea for 4 fot £9 in the cafe)

WingsClipped · 11/01/2015 05:49

Give Ocado another go. I love them. Hardly ever any subs and they stock a brilliant range.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 11/01/2015 16:25

I used to be a devoted ocado shopper but gave up after they fucked me over re: the delivery pass cost. Plus I find their packing appalling. Every second shop had squashed fruit/leaking milk/broken eggs. It was as though they had no respect for customers and goods they had paid for. They refunded with no quibble but still had to drag two babies out to the shops to replace the damaged food
