DREADED Black Shower Mould

I know there are some great old threads on general shower cleaning and mould removal but I'm looking for the BEST product or hack for specifically getting rid of black mould? Has anyone found a good, low chemical option? I'm not entirely against a nuclear option. Old fashioned elbow grease isn't getting me very far...and DH is nagging has politely reminded me a few times.

Cillit Bang Mould Spray is brilliant - spray it on, wipe it off. Just done our bathroom with moulds up easily as there's no extractor fan. It's half price in Asda at the moment £1.75

Great tip on the Asda sale threepiecesuite! As for removing the more lingering DH cleaning chauvinism sadly I'm too attached to the bugger to take any harsh cleaning products to him...and the bathroom is my only cleaning responsibility so he probably has the worse end of the deal.

Have tried bleach and it moved a bit but I think it is going to have to be Cillit to make any real impact.

HG mould spray, magic in a bottle. But it stinks & is definitely the nuclear option

I've got it on the silicone in my shower, CIF, cillit bang, HG mould remover nor the mn bleach and bicarb method have cleared it, I really don't want to take out the silicone and redo it as I'm crap at stuff like that. I'd appreciate any other ideas

Was going to recommend HG mould spray too but see you've tried that already.

Have a look at a couple of specialist products called Lithofin grout cleaner and sealant? Pricey but good!

I would pay good money if anyone offered a shower cleaning service like the oven cleaning services, to come and shift the mould twice a year.

At the moment I'm ignoring the mould on ours, but my well-meaning DMum "helpfully" points it out whenever she visits.

I just did a mumsnet tip of making a paste of bleach and bicarb and spreading on the sealant. Leave overnight and rinse off. Came up beautifully. No scrubbing required.

Soak cotton wool in thick bleach or dettol mould and mildew spray and squash the cotton wool down onto the black bits. Leave it on for as long as you can.

An effective extractor fan. You have to run it long enough.

Dettol mould and mildew remover worked for me, but its not always in the shop so next time I will try the cillit bang.

Once rid of it you need to think about stopping it coming back. I found banning DH from taking 45minute showers worked well. He is only allowed 10 minutes now Grin

I came on to say the same as honeysucklejasmine. I used the bicarb & bleach mix but only left it on for a couple of hours and mine came up brilliant. You'd never know it had been there.

I use thick bleach, pour it neat onto the sealant and cover with a cloth then leave overnight. Comes up really well, although the awkward bit in the corner I usually have to do two or three nights in a row.

I did the MN trick of bicarb and bleach. Made a thick paste and painted it on. Left overnight and rinsed off. Black, seemingly horrifically stained grout which I'd scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed with no success was shiny, white and pristine again.

I have tried the bleach and bicarbonate thing but it didn't really work on my sink sealant, I shall persevere.

Yesterday though, in the spirit of the big New Year clean, I ventured into my shower armed with various brushes and some detox spray. I scrubbed every nook and cranny and I am very pleased with the results. My shower enclosure is a crap design though; loads of little hard to clean areas. Obviously designed by someone who doesn't clean.

Most annoyingly, DH did not even notice our transformed shower.

Mine is on the sealant not the grout as well, tried everything suggested and no luck.
