what coffee machines is it that take the discs?

Senseo takes discs that look like tea bags. They ain't great though, I gave mine away

You can get dolce gusto which do similar drinks to the tassimo. or a nespresso that does proper coffee from pods . duallit have also a machine that takes pods.

it depends what sort of coffee you like

I bought DH a dolce gusto one for Xmas :-)
