does anyone know if insurance policies cover you for a leak caused by a gap in the seal round the bath? I have the usual policy with accidental damage but can't figure out if the ywill say this is wear and tear.

The seal will be a wear and tear issue, but the damage caused by water leaking through it should be covered.

thanks redlorry 75. I replaced the seal myself and obviously didn't do a good job, I hope the accidental damage part of my policy will cover me.

Hi Duch, I have just replaced my bath seal as it was crappy and mouldy, however DH did'nt read sealant removed instructions properly and forgot to get methalated (sp) spirits to clean it before applying new sealant. So I had to use white spirits which is oily. Sufice to say I have to reseal again - one he has bought the Meths!

In your case like mine I dont think it;s wear and tear but 'bad workmanship', no offence. Which is still not covered, but as you have accidental damage the damage from any leak should be covered.
I used to work in Home Insurance - can be a bit of a bore on the subject.
