Getting rid of electrical stuff

Where do you send it? I now charity shops don't take electrical stuff...

I've put some on Facebook but some hasn't sold. I'm taking about things like an electric blanket, Kodak electric picture frame thingy, foot spa. That kind of stuff. It's all in excellent nick so don't want to just throw it away....

Some charity shops do. The British Heart Foundation run shops which deal in electrical goods. They have them tested before sale.

some charity shops do take electricals so i would double check if any of yours do

iwantginsoakedXmas · 09/12/2014 18:51

You may have to virtually give it away on the facebook selling sites. People just won't pay good money for secondhand goods.

We end up taking o urs to the tip - they have a separate section for electricals. Perhaps they sort out the re-usable components ?

ilovepowerhoop · 09/12/2014 18:52

www.bhf.org.uk/shop/donating-goods/what-to-donate - takes large and small electricals

ilovepowerhoop · 09/12/2014 18:53

Barnardos also take electricals

Tonacata · 09/12/2014 19:15

Normally I freecycle it.

specialsubject · 09/12/2014 20:33

I got a fiver for a digital photo frame on ebay. They are energy guzzlers so have gone out of favour.

heart foundation is a good idea, and Red Cross also take electricals.

Our local dump it site (although they aren't called that any more) have a skip for electrical items.

ilovepowerhoop · 09/12/2014 21:30

but the items would break getting thrown into the skip so are more for items that no longer work

Keenoonvino · 12/12/2014 22:46

Thanks - I knew BHF took electricala but I thooght only things like cookers, washing machines etc. Didn't think they'd be interested in electric blankets and foot spas! I'll give them a call Smile

There's a big box outside our local B&Q where you can dispose of electrical goods for recycling. Maybe yours will have one too?

DeeCayed · 13/12/2014 11:59

I would freecycle it.

Keenoonvino · 13/12/2014 18:38

The thing is, I don't really want to dispose of them as they are in perfect working order, some having never been used and some only used a handful of times. I'll have a look at freecycle. Thanks
