Keeping shoes tidy

We have shoes off in our house and have a very small hallway.
What can I use to keep shoes in?

One of those narrow shoe storage cupboards from Ikea? Limit everyone to max two pairs of shoes downstairs, everything else to be put away in bedrooms.

Or could you put a low shelf under where you hang coats (presuming you have coat hooks) and put shoes under there?

Can you put a shoe rack in a cupboard convenient for the hall?
