Oven Pride on grill pan

Has anyone used Oven Pride on their grill pan and was it okay? I'm trying to clean one with lots of cooked on muck.

I've soaked it in warm water with bio washing powder with some success, but I need to go industrial now and was thinking this would be a solution or I'll be here at Christmas, still scrubbing it. I don't want to damage the grill pan though.

Sorry - I mean the rectangular pan with a metal grille on top that you put under the grill, not a ridged frying pan for use on the hob. Thank you!

I use that Fairy strong cleaner in a green bottle on mine - leave it about 30 mins & give a good scrub, gets rid of most of the baked-on crud

Oven Pride probably better though & shouldn't do any harm

The reason I'm cautious is because Oven Pride shouldn't be used on vitreous enamel and I'm not sure what the black coating on grill pans is. The one I'm trying to clean is beyond anything pleasant to use - several years of not being cleaned properly, put under the grill, not being cleaned properly, put under the grill, etc - not by me, I hasten to add!

I have used it on the grill pan and it was fine

I've tried everything on ours and can still see those stains which look like very thin oil slicks. Does anyone know what I mean? Just can't get rid of them

just googled vitreous enamel - it's that shiny speckled stuff, usually black or grey - I don't know what mine is either, it's grey but not speckled. Anyway the Power Spray doesn't appear to do any harm although I don't know if it warns against using it on vitreous - I'll have a look

Vitreous enamel isn't always specked or black or grey. Le Creuset casserole dishes are covered in vitreous enamel. Ours is red!

Oh sod it, I'll try it - the thing is rank on both sides! Will report back.....

It's looking good so far - I've put the whole bottle in the bag with the grill pan and the rack as it was so rank.

it'll certainly shift the muck! Hope the pan surface is ok too

I'm resisting taking it out of the bag because it's working a treat after about 10 hours. Was looking a lot better after about four hours, and now it's looking almost like new.

Surface looks fine - I'm so glad I thought of this.

wow ! Must dig out my oven pride to do oven , have been waiting for dishwasher to finally get fixed so I can rinse the racks in there afterwards, my sink is too small to try and rinse them in there .
