Fabric conditioner, want one with a nice lingering scent, any suggestions?

I'm fed up with 'pure' unscented kind to skin fabric conditioner. I fancy something that actually makes my laundry smell clean & nice (but not too girly). Tried some bold 2in1 but found it a bit overpowering. What do you use?

I use the Bold liquitabs they don't seem as strong as the other tablet things. I've found (and believe me, I've tried everything), that Bold is the only stuff that keeps the bedclothes smelling really yummy when you yank them out of the back of the cupboard, it really does linger.

I love fabric conditioner. My fave is Comfort, and it is a sweetalmond i think it a 'luxury' one, but it is expensive!

I have just bought a Lenor one - in the pink and it is mango and orange, but it is really nice! Not overpowering or orangy, its light and fruity really nice. if you like mangoes

TortUREoiseChamber · 04/10/2006 12:38

Lenor (summer something) its the yellow one.Lovely smell and lasts well.

sugarfree · 04/10/2006 12:40

I like the yellow one too.
The Lenor(or it might be comfort) febreeze one lasts for a while.

lucyfercat · 04/10/2006 12:40

I like that lenor one too, it's the one where we got free samples by linking on here.

Not everywhere sells it though

twoisenoughmum · 04/10/2006 12:56

Asda "Line Fresh" (the green one) its lovely. Believe me, have tried them all.

creepydazy · 04/10/2006 13:11

I am another lover of beautiful smelling clothes and laundry. I like the Comfort yellow one and also the Lenor too. They used to do that Downy and that was gorgeous but they took it off the market for some reason.

When I iron I also mix some perfume oil in with the water and that too makes the clothes smell lovely and is a lot cheaper than buying vaporesse.

themoon666 · 04/10/2006 13:55

I just bought a new iron and it said on instructions never to put scented oils in it because they burn onto the element or something. I stick to vaporesse stuff... not expensive as I only iron once in a blue moon

creepydazy · 04/10/2006 15:57

So thats why I have to replace my iron every few months - I've had 3 this year so far

DP said he won't buy me no more and I will have to use the travel iron if I break this one.

I tell him its overworked won't tell him its because of the perfume oil.

sorkycake · 04/10/2006 17:20

Ooh take the opportunity to not smell.
Fc is evil stuff, just let the clothes line dry and they will smell lovely.
Fwiw, I cannot stand the smell of fabric softener on anyone who passes by, makes me think their home is filthy and they try to cover the smell up. They actually smell unclean to me.

cupcakes · 04/10/2006 17:21

I love the Ecover conditioner. The clothes always smell lovely without having that overpowering smell of synthetic fragrance.

cupcakes · 04/10/2006 17:22

sainsburys do a fig ironing water which is very nice.

cupcakes · 04/10/2006 17:23

no, not fig - jasmine and lychee.

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 04/10/2006 18:59

I used to get nauseous at the smell of clean washing when I first had morning sickness and I don't even use fabric softener.
One day when DS is out of nappies we'll switch to Ecover bio and maybe softener, that's as hardcore as I'm prepared to go

beckybrastraps · 04/10/2006 19:06

Lavendar water sprayed onto clean bedlinen makes them smell lovely.

If you like lavender of course!

Skribble · 04/10/2006 21:30

Agree I like Ecover nice fresh lavender smell.

tigi · 04/10/2006 22:14

The bold tabs are nice, but i usually always have the yellow lenor one.

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 04/10/2006 22:21

If you see someone opening and sniffing all the bottles in tesco tomorrow, that'll be me on a mission, thanks everyone. Sorkycake agree about line drying but i can only be bothered to hang out the big stuff (sheets etc) on a sunny day, everything else goes in the dryer i'm afraid.

Sorkycake???? Don't get your logic there. Whats wrong with clean smelling clothes? I love Lenor not just for the smell but also for the softness of the clothes if I didn't use it they would feel like cardboard.

foxtrottingtotransylvania · 10/10/2006 14:29

update: just tried the yellow lenor - lovely, and am now doing my sheets with lenor sleep sensations with lavender & camomile.
