cooker hood extractor with no filter.

moved house and the extractor above the hob didn't have a grease filter in it.
bought a filter and put it in (although there were no clips or bands to secure it) but it stopped any steam going up the extractor. took the filter out again and it's sucking fine.

Do some extractors not require filters at all?
It's made by lux air hoods if that's any help.

My extractor doesn't have a filter. I can detach it and run it through the dishwasher though.

if it is an extractor, not a recirculator, it doesn't need a carbon filter, but it should have a grease trap; either a large thin paper or foam sheet covering the whole of the underside; or sometimes a "knitted" wire mesh.

The absorbent paper ones you throw out, the foam or mesh ones can be washed and will be astonishingly filthy.

If you look up the make and model there is a chance you will find the manufacturer's instructions online.

Thanks. It has a thick knitted wire mesh that was choked with grease before I cleaned it.
