3yr old washing machine, un fixable :( Any recommendations for a replacement?

My last machine was 17 years old and when it conked out, it was replaced with a mid-range machine.

Just over 3years later and that is now broken Sad.

I only do 2-3loads per week (it's a 9kg machine) and generally only use two different cycles so it doesn't need to be all singing, all dancing.

Any suggestions?

Also, is it worth trying to recoup some money by advertising the broken one for spares?

Missing, Hoover and Candy are the same company. A lot of the staff who work at my offices, often go on to a job at Hoover/candy offices. It's just up the road from where I live.

I had an LG previously, unsure what DH has (I moved in with him) but it's no where near as good. I can't wait for his machine to die so I can replace it with another LG.

E1y1, We know, and I know someone who works there, most of our washers were Hoovers until recent years, we broke the band twice, once with an Indesit (Big BIG mistake!) and again with a Hotpoint (Indesit, but this one lasted a while until we replaced in with a Miele)

Hotpoint & Indesit merged in 2005.
Hoover was bought out by Candy in 1995 following bankruptcy on the back of the free flights promotion (remember that?).

Both brands these days are pretty awful. Hoover/Candy had that exploding drum issue and Hotpoint/Indesit are notorious for PCB failure. None are built to last.

The Hotpoint we had spent more time sitting than it did tumbling and never washed well from day 1. It was dead with 3 years when the drum bearing failed.

Stick with the German brands - Miele, Bosch/Siemens and AEG.

I came to browse for ideas also as I'm not sure to buy next.
Would say that our Bosch is almost a year old and has been repaired twice already (and the seal needs replacing, apparently, as it's leaking). Perhaps we've just been unlucky as it's been highly recommended so far.

An old hotpoint lasted 10 years, but repair person told us the quality is not the same nowadays.

I just got rid of a broken 2 year old hotpoint washing machine. I brought it form john lewis so had a 2yr guarantee, the brushes on it went at about 1yr 11months so called out repair guy under guarantee and lasted another 6 months.
will never buy another hotpoint.

I kept reading about bosch and how great they were, and had a bosch machine in a previous rented house. Looking around I found a brushless technology one in currys on offer from £549 to 319 so brought it. I have only had it a few weeks and its brilliant. So quiet I had to keep checking it was working. The machine has a 2 year manufacturers warrantee, but the drum has a 10yr warrantee.

I have a miele dishwasher(john lewis special offer) but couldn't stretch to the miele washing machine.

DS2's and DD2's Beko machines are cracking for the money, and they actually feel well made, unlike the Hotpoint/Indesit thingymabob DS2 had
