Washing towels & coconut oil

I like to slather my carcass with Palmer's Moisturising Coconut Oil when I get out of the shower. Then I wrap myself in a towel and start my day :)

But the towel is getting covered in this stuff and I need advice on how to wash it. Do I boil it up or use a lower temperature? I use ordinary Surf laundry liquid. Basically; how to wash oil out of a towel?

Thanks

Towels should be washed at a high temperature to get them clean and kill bacteria. Wash on a cotton wash at a minimum 60 degrees centigrade. Only use a small amount of washing powder or liquid (stops the towels getting hard) and no fabric conditioner. FC coats the fibres and makes them less absorbent. Over time they start to feel slimy when wet if you use FC.

Thanks.

Anything specific about the oil?

Oh, and I don't use fabric conditioner on them.

add some washing soda crystals. They are good for washing out grease. You may find that a hot hot hot wash, with soda, dissolves away greasy soap sludge from inside your washer, so give it a try, without powder, and see if the water foams up and goes grey. If so, do it again.

Thanks Piglet.

First wash without any clothes/towels in? Sort of like a maintenance wash? I don't usually do those :o

yes. Perhaps you tub is internally coated with grease.

I also think you will find that a hot powder wash is more effective that a cool liquid.

agree with piglet
assuming the towel is cotton, wash at 60 with bio powder plus add a tablespoon or so soda crystals.

OP here - I got some Dri-Pak washing soda crystals from Sainsbury's (£1 for 1kg!) and boiled up the towels with a tbspn of same, plus minimal laundry liquid and they are perfectly clean and fresh smelling and feeling :) Possibly too rough for some but I like them like that.

Thanks all!
