Redesigning kitchen wwyd?

I live in a Victorian house and it currently has a tiny kitchen in what would have been the scullery. I have very little storage and as a result have equipment and crockery stowed in other cupboards outwith kitchen at the moment. I am moving the kitchen to what would have been the original kitchen of the house, a larger room where we eat ATM (will still eat there when kitchen is moved). Am turning current small kitchen into a utility room, but will have cupboard space there too.

I am trying to decide how to fit out interior of cupboards in both spaces so am thinking about what will go where. What items would you/do you store in utility rather than kitchen? Was thinking some food might get stored there, and maybe the equipment I use less often. Grateful for your thoughts.

I don't store any food in the utility room. In there are the laundry products, cos washing machine is there, and cleaning things other than those I need under the kitchen sink. Candles, clothes pegs, bulbs, vases, stuff like that. And a load of bike bits thanks DH.

My best advice is to get pull out drawers in all base cupboards, they are fantastic for making the most of space.

I'm with ThreeQuarters and would also store kitchen equipment you don't use as frequently as the day to day stuff in there.

Not got a nice enough place like yours but i do i have a kitchen excess cupboard in the hall! In i store spare glasses, cutlery and crockery. In the kitchen i only have 4 of everything except mugs and glasses which are six. I also store all the service where in there like the snack bowls, platters, cake stand etc plus utility stuff like loo roll and kitchen roll, shoe cleaning stuff etc Big jars of pickles and alcohol. Attachments for the food processer that are not used. Oh and bottles of water. It is a blessing as i only have two base cupboards - one is the sink - and two walk cupboards. Ironing board, iron, sewing kit, Hoover, mop and dustpan and brush are in the meter cupboard - dh hung hooks inside the door and I have three bags - one for bags , another tea towels and last one has spare hangers. Anyway enough waffle and happy planning. Don't forget a little deep sink in the utility'

Our utility has overflow from kitchen cupboards - food we use less often, snacks for kids because there is a nice mid-level shelf, and the least used gadgets, serving dishes and utensils. We also have cat food and gubbins, a cupboard for laundry detergents and cleaning products, a steam mop, and random party gubbins like leftover party bags, disposable cups etc.

If we had space in the utility, we would probably keep the most frequently used tools in there too.

It depends whether you have space for all your kitchen stuff in your kitchen.

drinks in the utility in our house - beer and wine on the whole.

I agree with RandomMess. Pull out drawers are the best thing ever! If we ever re-do our kitchen I would have them in all base units. I have a large larder cupboard for food in our utility along with the washing machine and it works fine.

Can you git in a spate fridge? Brilliant for drinks and extra stuff at Xmas.
