Please does anyone know why my fridge is doing this?

Water keeps pooling under the veg trays at the bottom. Pooling stops if the fridge is kept at max-cold setting and the walls frost up, but I can't seem to maintain this temp for long and the cycle repeats itself.

YOu might have a drain hole at the back somewhere that's got blocked/iced up - ours used to do this, and we used to have to heat up a skewer and melt the ice that way to free it up.

agree with jackieno - there will be a tiny ventilation hole at the back which has probably got blocked, exactly what happened in our fridge - water everywhere!

This happens at db's house. Their glass tray broke and they think that has affected the temperature inside the fridge.

CountessDracula · 29/09/2006 11:46

Yes mine did this it is defo the drain hole. Stick a skewer down it and wiggle a bit

Probably drain hole, but is it a built in fridge? If so, also check the door closes properly - the cupboard door on ours had somehow got out of line by a millimetre or so (probably the teenager slamming it!) but it was enough to stop the door closing and we had water on the front of the ice box that dripped down the fridge shelves and collected at the bottom.

Ours did this and there was a problem with the door seal. We now have a new fridge.

Thanks for these pointers, will start with the skewer thing.

Cotton buds good for clearing hole out too if its that.

bakedpotato · 29/09/2006 22:27

It worked! I wiggled a cotton bud around, felt a 'pop' and the drain actually drained!
Thanks.
