I think I want a Sebo upright

Anyone have one? I've used a dyson and find them too rattly (too clever by half). I have no small DCs, no pets, but a big house and large staircase, need something light and quick with easily fixed attachments.

Yes! I have one.

however it isn't lightweight - that's for sure.

This beauty is mine SeboFelix Rosso

It has a bag - but no loss of suction - as the dust all compresses to the bottom of the bag. I have had mine -way over a year, and probably only used 3 bags so far. I haven't had to clean the filter - I checked it and it is fine.

It is quite large - so stairs with the attachment are a little heavy going. You need to be fit to use it. However it really is the best vacuum cleaner I have had.

The suction power is ace - no pets here, but hairy men and I have long hair - and it gets everything. Be careful of any loose mobile phone charging cables... I sucked one up from a distance!

So the model I have might not be the best for stairs - but for large rooms it's a breeze.

I'm a SEBO owner too, I have the X4extra. I can't praise it enough, but I only use it downstairs, and have an old Dyson upstairs. Yes, it is quite heavy, but is a dream to use, and comes with a hose extension for stairs. Sebos are highly rated, and used in hospitals and commercial premises. The bags last for ages, taking a long time to fill (I think the capacity is 5 litres?) it is so easy to push around, and has a low profile head which goes under furniture more easily than the bulky Dyson.

Watching with interest

I LOVE my sebo and rave about it to anyone that will listen. It was actually my Nan's before coming to us so is at least 8 years old and going strong. I use the freshened cartridges which I love.....agree with everyone else though, it certainly isn't light but don't be put off it's brilliant.

doziedoozie · 07/10/2014 22:15

Thanks all for the info.
I think I will go for the Felix Rosso. Mainly because it is 6.8Kg to the X4's 7.4Kg.

There is a very long Youtube video describing it . It demonstrates how to remove the body to use with the hose on stairs.

The Dyson Animal is 8Kg (weights from John Lewis).

The Rosso is only given one 2 star review on the JL site but it looks like an upgrade on the Felix Vogue which is no longer in stock but has nearly 5 stars and hundreds of reviews.

My old LG cleaner (which has died due to an excess of plaster dust) lasted 12 years but it will be great to have something new and more powerful if heavier.

Love my Sebo Felix, had it over 7 years and it's still going strong!

DoTheStrand · 07/10/2014 22:31

Sebos are ace. We've got the pet one our cleaner is constantly recommending it to other people she cleans for.

SwanneeKazoo · 07/10/2014 22:37

We have a Sebo Automatic X1. It's 25 years old and looks it but it still works perfectly fine! If it ever breaks down, I would get another Sebo.

Missushb · 07/10/2014 22:37

They are great, I have the x1, I think it was around 220 from Amazon. It's not light but it's not too difficult to carry, there is a handle you can grip on to. Actually prefer having bags, less messy!

DrElizabethPlimpton · 07/10/2014 23:01

Another sebo felix rosso owner. A brilliant vacuum - I have a permanently moulting Labrador - that copes with everything. It is bloody heavy though.

doziedoozie · 08/10/2014 08:56

I have weighed my old LG and it is 7.4Kg (including dirt) so the weight should be fine.

We have 2. An X4 and an older X1. Both are fantastic. Lightweight to use (although not so much to lift) and very solidly built and reliable. The bags last for months too. You can really cram them full until it's like a brick. My mother and mother in law both have felix uprights and are very pleased with them

beachywaves · 08/10/2014 13:52

I have used several over the years and really don't like them. I find them heavy and very unbalanced when you use the hose. I have been knocked on the head several times when they have toppled over. They pick up reasonably well, but no better than others.

newlark · 08/10/2014 14:05

We have a sebo (not an upright though) - it is very good and is 15+ years old but very heavy - I avoid carrying it upstairs if I can avoid it so it is rather dusty up there!

Imwoodword · 09/10/2014 09:34

We swapped our Sebo for a Dyson, much prefer the Sebo. It is heavy, eapecially compared to the Dyson, but gets dirt much better and the nozzle is easier to use. It is very powerful - when my son was 18 months he had an accident with it and needed a skin graft!

LL12 · 10/10/2014 19:04

I knew quite a few people that have now changed their Dyson's for Sebo's

LBOCS · 10/10/2014 22:17

My DM swapped her Dyson for a Sebo and raves about it. I have used it too and it's great.

springalong · 10/10/2014 22:30

I needed to replace a 17 yr old bosch cyclinder. Everyone recommended Sebo including my mum! So I bought a sebo cylinder - looked long and hard at JL reviews which were good. I don't like it :( - it is very heavy. It actually makes my upper arms ache pushing it around. I do have a cat so needed the powerful suction.

I have a flat in Italy and needed to buy a new hoover. I have a lovely light weight eco cylinder hoover - it is lovely and efficient. It is coming home here soon - cant wait!!
