Hi all, have noticed some mould spots on the inside of my outside walls, upstairs. What could be causing it, how can I prevent it and how can I treat it? Thanks

do you drape wet washing around your home?

How long each day do you open the bedroom windows?

Does your bathroom have an effective extractor, that you use?

We had that in the bedroom. We had double glazing fitted and unfortunately all the condensation settles on the cold outside wall instead of the windows, all that wet has to go somewhere and we got mouldy spots.

We had some wallpaper left from decorating and replaced under the window after putting mould stuff on. Now I am opening the windows more and keeping my fingers crossed. We don't drape wet washing around either, it was just condensation, we has loads of it on our old wooden windows (1930's house).

We have this too. Ours also started when we got new double glazing in. You can get anti condensation paint, and whilst it doesn't eradicate it, it has helped ours a lot.

When it does occur I scrub it with Dettol mould and mildew remover. We don't dry washing indoors, and we try to keep the windows open as much as possible to keep the air flowing.

We got a dehumidifier and that's helped a lot with ours. It also helps if you air the bedroom every morning and have a window open / extractor fan on while having a shower.

Once the mould spores are in your house it's next to impossible to get rid of them, so you just need to make conditions unfavourable for the mould - it doesn't die in the cold so making the environment dry is the best thing to kill it with. Tea tree oil or clove oil will remove it if you don't want to use bleach.
