Clarks kids trainers in the washing machine?

DS has stepped in something at nursery and his shoes absolutely stink. I've thrown them out the back door. It's not dog poo, I don't think. Maybe fox poo? Really awful smell. I'm pregnant and really can't face cleaning them by hand.

Do you think I could successfully throw them in the washing machine, then do a 90 degree empty cycle after to clean/disinfect anything yuck?

Okay, they're in. Hoping this isn't a bad idea, but I'm sure he's needing his feet measured soon anyway...

I've put them in with a towel to cushion them a bit, and turned off the spin so they don't damage the machine. Fingers crossed...

I've done it before with no ill effects. It does make a racket though. Good luck!

A previous washing machine I had used to have a "special shoes" program - I never used it myself as I don't often wear trainers (and I tend to buy cheap ones that more often than not are falling apart by the time I think they're looking a bit dirty!) - but I suppose the inclusion of this program means that trainers would be ok in the machine.

An update on the shoes, just in case anyone's life is as boring as mine! Wink

They have survived, and no longer smell like a small animal died in them, but they are taking an age to dry. I tried the tumble dryer but they bashed about so much I was worried about breaking it so stopped. DS has been going to nursery in his wellies and thinks it's great!

Argh, just realised I'd name changed. Promise it's still me!
