I dont think you can get a burn out.

You could think about replacing them. You can get pretty nice worktop quite cheaply in places like MFI. I think ours were about £180 but they had them for half that.
Dh fitted them himself even though he had no experince. They look fab

Bleach should do it - just use it sparingly on the area needed.

This might be a long shot but is there such a thing as a lacquer or protective coating you can get put on it?

Cilit Bang is good for stains on worktops.

try bleach, if it doesn't work, keep the fruitbowl on top of the mark until you can afford to replace.

The Cif cream with bleach gets curry stains off my pale-coloured worktop so might work.

CarolinaMoon · 26/09/2006 15:45

we have the same kind of problem re marks from pans etc.

It does fade over time.

With the bleach, I would dilute it - there should be instructions on the bottle about diluting for cleaning purposes I think - something like a capful in a few litres of water.

If bleach, cream cleaner and cillit bang fail it may well mean the kettle, fruit bowl or pot stand sits on it. I would try to give the work top a coting of something until you can replace it. Plain white tops can be got very cheap, we had short runs of worktops and got beech style off cuts from B&Q cutting area.

Vinegar or Borax?? they seem to use that for everything or is that Anthea.

I find Astonish Cleaning Paste quite good for this sort of thing

Mine are white - I do them with Milton when I remember.
