Vacuum cleaners (WITH a bag)

Frikadellen · 18/09/2014 14:12

Looks like my vacuum cleaner has given up the spirit (long story involving annoying builder and my getting annoyed every time I think about it)

I loathe bagless ones and I would like to buy one thats not over £100 as we really havent got the budget for it at the moment..

any recommendations?

if you have got a lot of downstairs carpets, an upright will get them cleanest, and will beat out mud, grit, spiders and flea eggs. However a good upright is more expensive to make than a good cylinder and I doubt you will get a good one for £100.

Looking at Which Best buys at £110 or less, I can only see two, both cylinders.

Samsung VC21F60JDDR £79.99 scores 80%

Miele S 2111 £109.99 scores 80%

I get my bags and filters online, about a dozen at a time. The more modern white or solver bags are certainly better than the brown paper bags. I usually wash the filters and swap for a clean one with every new bag.

ty Piglet I should have mentioned I prefer not to have a upright as they really don't do my back any favours :(

The one we are replacing is the Miele 2111 it has been a pretty good machine until the builder used it to suck up rubble (long story) but I figured worth asking what people have and like.

grrrr, yes, I always say, hide the vac when you have a builder in the house, and take the hose off and hide it in the boot of the car where he won't find it.

I have just switched back to a bagged vacuum - and am very impressed with my new one, good power/suction, light to move and long cord....

It's a Siemens synchropower - here

Basic Miele every time, they are amazing

Like you, I don't do bagless. If you have carpet, you really need a cylinder with an air driven turbo brush. This will sweep up hair and fibres easier and also agitate the carpet pile to remove embedded dirt and keep your carpet looking it's best for longer.

If you have bare floors, straight suction is fine.

Sebo are probably the best you can get, but they're pricey. The K1 Pet is about £180.

Henry are a good choice. A bit large, but the bags are hugs and last a very long time. The machine is also very solid and reliable top. Henry Xtra with the turbo brush sells for about £130. Basic Henry's can be picked up for around £100.

Hope this helps.

Henry for me every time.
I have a new Miele & it's been relegated to upstairs as it's not as good imo as good old Henry. His cord is long enough that I'm not constantly re plugging before I can carry on (Miele is so short it's ridiculous), he can handle whatever I ask of him even stones & many a builders rubble over the years & he lifts hair much better than the Miele -even with its special head. Plus he's much cheaper, as are his bags.

Have also used a Hetty which is a smaller version & she wasn't too bad either, but not powerful enough for our house.

Hetty and Henry are identical apart from the colour. James is the smaller version of Henry.

Sebo.

Easiest one to use and easiest to change the bag. Excellent results.
