I cant get rid of them. I have closed up holes. put traps down. Had rentokil out and laid proper poison....bleach floors as supposedy they dont like it and I still find mouse sh*t everywhere. I am so stressed. I cant eat in this house until they are gone (OCD) but nothing will get rid of them....Please help. I have tried everything on the market.

They will get in very small holes, we found good old fashioned traps and poison (blue grain stuff from hardware store) did the trick. I put trays of poison under the kitchen units so the kids couldn't get them, if the grain is spread out shallow and neatly you can see if they are taking it.

At this time of year they may just be passing through and not desperate for food. Have you found a nest (shredded up paper or material) ours were nesting in the drip tray of the fridge huddled up against the warm motor, but that was when it was colder.

We have had one in this house but he was just passing thorugh they seem to prefer the hut here.

They can get through a hole the size of a pencil allegedly. You just have to continue with the poison. I seem to have been lucky in that mine appear to have gone after one lot of poison.

Leave bait where pipes come up through the flor/walls (the best "take" in the bait boxes the mouseman left here was where the washing machine pipes came up through the floor). Blocking holes with steel wool is meant to put them off as they don't like chewing it.

can you get the council Pest Control people out?

do you know what they are feeding on?

Skribble · 24/09/2006 22:20

Steel wool great tip, i will remember that if I get them back.

we have had a similar problem, the thing is i have ocd and am a complete animal lover in equal measures so my NEED to get the house clean of mouse shit wrestles with my softy side. basically we tried everything going but only found success with the last thing we tried which were "glue traps"....little cardboard boxes with serious glue inside, mouse gets inquisitive, has a look inside but gets stuck. this is so the last option cause i think it's a very bad way for them to go but as i said, we were desperate (9mth old ds2 puts EVERYTHING in his mouth)

DS wouldn't let us get a traditional trap, he choose a humane one that tips up and closes if they venture in, but by the time we got it mousey had tied up his little hanky to his stick and moved on.

I can thoroughly recommend those plug-in sonic thingies (-we got a pack of 5 or so from Robert Dyas). I was a sceptic at first but loathe to use poison and we only had one mouse after we plugged them in (-we reckon it was deaf!) so am a complete convert.

Macdog · 26/09/2006 07:40

i got a bait box from diy superstore. clear box pre baited with poison, sealed with a hole at either end. within 3 days we had 6 dead mice. used the steel wool trick where they were coming up beside radiator pipes and used sealant on gaps in wood/bath panels etc

Pinewood · 29/09/2006 17:46

Hi could try humane traps and I would recommend chocolate is a great bait - we find Aero's seem to work best?

mum2monkeys · 29/09/2006 18:38

Used glue also, not for the squeamish, as they squeak like hell when you catch them! But totally paranoid about my DD having mice crawl over her in bed (Ever seen Truly, Madly, Deeply?). If using glue recommend you fix trap down as will move around otherwise
