Hello All,

I was hoping you might have some recommendations for me.

We have a small porch which doesn't have any windows so it has bad air circulation. It gets quite stuffy and has a bit of a stale smell at times. It probably doesn't help that its where we store our shoes!

I have been looking for a really good air freshener to try and give it a bit of a nicer smell. I can't have a plug in because there is no socket in there. I also don't want a spray one because I don't want to be obviously spraying it when people come to the door.

I've tried the reed type ones from a supermarket but they didn't seem to be strong enough.

Anyone got any ideas?

Yankee candle signature reed diffusers are lovely :)

There's some Reed diffusers from Dunelm Mill that have amazing scents, they can be a little strong at first, but they aren't chemically at all imo.

I use the Wax Lyrical ones, I find the scents aren't too artificial. I read something on mn recently about making your own with carrier oil and essential oils, I'll see if I can find the thread.

you say it is badly ventilated.

is the front door wood, plastic or glass? Is there a letterbox? Is the roof flat or pitched? Is there a good door between the porch and the house?

Is the porch damp from raincoats, or is there another source?

Is it an add-on porch with a concrete floor that has no dpm so is never fully dry?

Are the walls brick, or what? How thick?

I second the Yankee candle reed diffusers, especially vanilla lime or lemon lavender, they both smell amazing.
Don't forget to rotate the reeds every couple of days:)
They last ages and are around £13 and worth every penny.
