Literally the most tedious question EVER

Does anyone know of a laundry tablet that combines washing and conditioning because I am too lazy to organise separate fabric conditioner that is really good for whitening whites? God I sound like some 1950s throwback, but there we have it.

Even if the manufacturer said their tablet did all that, I wouldn't believe them.

Sunlight is best for whitening whites (and free). I don't bother with fabric conditionner.

Goldiefawn · 12/09/2014 15:53

I stopped using conditioner a while back now and the only difference I've noticed is my washing machine drawer is a lot cleaner now! Clothes feel exactly the same, so not going to waste my money anymore.

The only one I can think of is Bold 2 in 1.

In terms of best treatment for whites, use POWDER tablets (no laundry liquid on the UK market contains bleaching agents) so powders trump when it comes to whites.

Then for best protection of your colour clothes use the Liquid tablet version.

So Bold powder tabs for whites and Bold liquid tabs for colours IYSWIM

I did not know that about liquid/powder. Thanks!

Alsoflamingo · 13/09/2014 08:36

Brilliant - thanks e1y1. I tend to prefer using tablets that you just chuck in the drum to avoid having to clean out the dispenser drawer (mine gets really repulsive). Will go with the 2 Bold types you recommend and see how it goes!

You're welcome Hassled. For some reason, they can't keep oxygen based bleaching agents stable in liquid detergents.

No worries Also I use a few different soaps, but do like Bold, it's gets the clothes clean and smells really nice.

I have learnt something new tonight. I did not know that about liquids / bleaching agents.

kormasutra · 13/09/2014 23:19

Just to add that the bold lavender/chamomile is gorgeous.
I have always used the powder form but was in Wilkinson's the other day and the liquitabs were on offer, half price so got them for a change.
The scent is a lot stronger and the house smells lovely when the dryer is on.

I find the best way of keeping whites white is to completely separate them.
The amount of people I know who say they just "Chuck everything in" regardless of colour astounds me.
Nothing beats clean fresh smelling clothes:)

Alsoflamingo · 14/09/2014 09:48

I do always separate my whites, but they do still seem to get a bit grey which is why I am after something with a bit of bleach or whatever.
