Two questions: laundry tips for sensitive skin and removing whiteboard pen

(a) Any tips on removing whiteboard pen from white polo shirts - but bear in mind part (b) below. Seems to be the stain of choice at the moment alongside the usual mud, blood, grass stains, food, ...

(b) I have always used non-bio as tendency to itchy skin (have mild eczema and psoriasis plus non-specific dermatitis tendencies). DS has worse skin itching (but without psoriasis so far). But am fed up with nothing ever being very white, particularly collars on DH's work shirts, DD's school socks. I could of course put my and DS's stuff in non-bio and everyone else's in a different wash which would solve half the problem but don't actually have enough white/light stuff usually for this to be efficient as most of our stuff is dark. Would occasional wash in bio liquid help, and if I followed up straight away with wash in non-bio would this be sufficient to prevent skin issues from bio? Or is the whole "bio causes itching" no longer true if now formulated much better than used to be? Or any other tips, preferably ones that don't involve too much extra effort (or the cost of buying whole set of new clothes every few months!)?

B) have you tried doing a rinse cycle after washing clothes. I now use bio sometimes even though I have mildly sensitive skin in general. However I do an extra rinse cycle after washing clothes. I also use less powder so if it's a half a load use a little bit less then recommended.

Are you mixing whites with the dark? If so, have you tried colour catcher sheets. They help but not 100% so I separate washes.

Can't you once in a while separate and wash DS and everyone's stuff in bio? Unless you mixing really dark colour run clothes with white clothes i would have thought it would take a while for clothes to look grey/ off white again.

Hope this makes sense.....if I think of anyway thing else will post later

Re A - I have come to the conclusion after a year that it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove whiteboard pen from tops - I've tried vanish, shout, most other stain remover brands and nothing doing. DS2's tops are red though - a friend of mine suggested soaking white tops in napisan worth a try?

Thanks for responses.

I never mix dark and white no . Was worried that if washed in bio then might take me several washes on non bio before ok for DS but sounds like would probably be ok with just one or even extra rinse so will give it a go.

Wish you had an amazing tip dinky but also a bit relieved that it's not just my incompetence re whiteboard pen. What I don't understand is why it wipes off the board really easily but not clothes! Guess it's about porous v non-porous.

I use fairy liquid - rub into stain with cold water then soak in cold water and washing powder overnight.
Usually gets everything school related out once washed

I always used non-bio as have has eczema since childhood. But, it just never got the dc's stuff clean! I now use biological & stain remover powder if needed and do an extra rinse as standard. I've had no reactions from me or dds. I bulk but colour catcher sheets on amazon subscription and put one or two in with every wash so no need to separate.

Thanks Kernow, that is reassuring. I'm going to try at least the occasional wash in bio with an extra rinse and see how we get on.

A) nothing removes white board pen, I've even bought white board cleaner and raided DHs workshop for evil solvents.
