Dusting tips

Can anyone advise on the best way to dust?

I have asthma, so damp dust using a microfibre cloth. The only thing is it leaves little tide marks of dust behind when it dries out. I try rinsing the cloth regularly, and folding it over.

Is there some magic way of dusting that can stop this?

What are your best tips?

I Hoover the surfaces then damp dust.

I probably let it get a lot worse than you do!

Damp dusting means the cloth is damp, not wet. It sounds as though your duster is wet. Trying really wringing it out - you shouldn't be finding that where you have dusted even feels damp or wet when you have cleaned it. You could also try following your damp dusting with a dry microfibre cloth to dry things off.

wowfudge yes, I wondered if the duster was too damp, although I do wring it out really well. Good idea about wiping again with a dry micro fibre.

We used to have a cleaner, and she used spray polish, and didn't seem to have any problems, but I prefer not to use polish if I don't need to.

I am sooo not a dusting guru, but if it's ok for your asthma try dry dusting first to get rid of most of it, then follow up with the damp cloth. Or use those disposable multi-surface wipes.

Slightly damp microfibre cloth is best...just wet a patch on it and keep turning it around.

Re polish, I use the method wood one...smells lovely - dusting becomes slightly addictive....

I often use the method polish spray, then a dry microfibre cloth - so it becomes damp with use....

Good idea Jazz. I use the Method granite cleaner, and will look out for the wood one. Does it work ok on painted surfaces?

It seems to work fine on mine......
