How the heck does a steamer work?

Thinking of getting one just to cook my veggies but they all look so big (I've only seen 3 tier ones) do they need to be so big? Or can you just fill up one section?

I've got a fantastic microwave steamer which can also be used to cook rice. It's plastic fantastic and best invention since the wheel. I use it daily. Three tier contraption not been out the cupboard since.

Another vote for the microwave steamer. Those electric ones will just gather dust. Steamer baskets are good too.

Mine came from argos and was literally less than 10 pounds.

Or you could get one of these steamer pans

When we moved to Australia, we bought all new pans for the new place because we'd had to keep all our old ones back in the UK while we waited for my visa to come through.
One of the pans is a steamer pan - and it fits onto all 3 of the other saucepans, plus uses the lid of the biggest saucepan as its lid. It is the best thing ever because it doesn't need special cleaning or dismantling or anything (unlike my Morphy Richards electric steamer, which I haven't used since we've been here)

When I go to my Dad's in the UK, he doesn't have one. So I just put the metal colander over a medium sized saucepan and use the appropriate sized lid - it's not perfect, but it still does a good enough job.

Or you could get one of these but watch out if you have non-stick coating on your pans - the one I had scratched the coating (its feet did).

OK, that's just weird - no idea where that "Amazon.co.uk £5.84" came from! It's wrong too. Right link, but wrong amount.
Weird.

We have a single level one like www.lakeland.co.uk/15182/Lakeland-Stainless-Steel-Universal-Steamer?gclid=CNjoweeGxcACFaYIwwodhTYARA&src=gpcoo&s_kwcid=AL!49!3!38143158251!b!!g!!universal%20steamer%20with%20lid&ef_id=VAb54QAAAWDSJdO2:20140903123213:s (you can buy cheaper). I think you can use just one tier of a multi level one. My dm has a Tefal electric one and you can pick one or more trays.

That is similar to what I have, LIZS. Only mine has a long handle.

I have this one, it is brilliant and uses about 1/16th of the energy of the hob.
Wilkos sell steamer baskets.

Had a flat screen tv(out of guarantee) Made by p.....s,not sure if I should mention the name.
the tv stoped working, phoned the company offered me an upgrade if I paid £400-which I did.
I had 4 or may be 5 refurbished tv since then.they were all failing.
This time they do not want to know, they are saying the t.v is out of guarantee and that I should pay for the repair.
honestly ,I do not want another refurbished tv ,happened too many times.
I wrote to them asking for the £400 back because I had enough of their service and their refurbished TV's.
and now they refused and maintain that they have done enough and that the tv is not guaranteed any more.
a if it is my fault-
ps.they even forget to send a remote for the last tv and had to wait at least 2 weeks for a remote,
I have no intention of letting them get away with this although it is major corporation.
any comments---thanks.
