Mildew round the edge of the bath.

We've got black mould starting to grow around the edge of the bath in the sealant. DH thinks we'll need to replace all the sealant. I'm hoping I can clean it off with something.

Can anyone recommend a cleaning product that may do the job?

For a stronger product, HG does a mould spray. You can buy it in B&Q or a hardware store - possibly on Amazon too.

Soak some toilet paper in bleach and press in to the edge, leave for about an hour, remove paper and rinse.
I did it not so long ago and looks perfect now. I also did the grouting in the tiles to refresh them. Looks much better.

Definitely hg mould spray. Leave on overnight for the first time, reapply as needed. Great stuff!

Thanks, I'll try the HG thing out. I did try cillit bang mould remover and it was great for small patches and the grout, but not the sealant.

The HG spray is excellent and def. worth a go, but in my experience, there is a point of no return with sealant. Sometimes you just cannot rescue it and you need to remove it and start again.

I swear by using a paste of bleach and bicarbonate of soda. Picked this up on the internet a few years ago and it totally works. Put the soda into a plastic tub and add some bleach, mix to a runny paste and then apply with an old toothbrush. Apply to grout between tiles or bath sealant. Leave for about half an hour and rinse off. Just make sure you do this with the window wide open because of the smell etc from the bleach. We did this just a few days ago and the bathroom looks nice and new!

I use thick bleach applied with an old toothbrush. It works but the mildew does come back. What is HG? Where can you get it?

HG you can get from B &Q, Homebase and Robert Days.

It is very powerful mould removal spray, wear old clothes and gloves when you use it and windows wide open.

Lakeland sells HG mould spray and it is the knees of the bees!

this is it - it smells like a swimming pool, so you'll want to do it on a day when you can open the window but it is worth every whiff.

I think the mould removers are basically bleach. I've found it either comes off with bleach/hg/ dettol mould remover, or it's deeper within the sealant and doesn't come off at all.
I've got a similar problem and nothing has shifted it, but I'll give the bleach and bicarb a go.

I think if I'm honest I probably moved house because i couldn't face regrouting. I had that problem. You can bleach it. It will look nice again for a while. It will then start to darken again. Another option is to regrout in a darker colour. Very trendy at the moment.
