Mine are grimy. I use cif and a scrub but they are not sparkling. Any tips appreciated

Panic!

Ah no, cilit bang or cif and a plastic scourer. Rinse with very hot water.

beccajoh · 12/08/2014 21:23

Vinegar

fivepies · 12/08/2014 21:23

I use vinegar (white) too.

tess73 · 12/08/2014 21:24

you need to get everyone in the habit of wiping it down with a squeedgee everytime you use it. it really only takes a minute and is easy to get into the habit and keeps it clean.

Azquilith · 12/08/2014 21:31

White wine vinegar. Neat on a scourer. Amazing.

Olbas · 13/08/2014 07:25

Mr sheen and a micro fibre cloth.

AliMonkey · 13/08/2014 07:34

Use a squeegee each day after last person showers then viakal and bath scourer once a fortnight followed by squeegee then last buff with muslin (how did I clean before I had muslins?)

NellysKnickers · 13/08/2014 07:37

Morrisons polish and a clean duster. Once a week. Smear free and sparkly.

WildCherryBlossom · 13/08/2014 07:43

Quick spray with method daily shower spray after each shower. Weekly with E-cloths for glass (wipe down with the first one wet and buff to a shine with the second).

cookielove · 13/08/2014 07:58

Viakal!

lemonfolly · 13/08/2014 08:07

Viakal spray.... Spray, leave for 5 mins, rub round and rinse. Sparkly new!

Mrsgrumble · 13/08/2014 09:14

Thanks You all.. Will mooch into town and see if I can get viakal but vinegar would be great.

Just a squeegee and a towel, every time the shower is used. I am very very strict about the house rule that the door, taps etc must be completely dried before users exit the shower. So, first a squeegee to remove most of the water, then a towel around the edges (especially along the bottom edge and in the overlap between the sliding doors).
We had a new bathroom put in 5 years ago and it still looks brand new. The secret is to keep everything dry. That's all you need to do. No need for anything else on the doors or taps. The tray gets an occasional clean with Sainsbury's bathroom cleaner.
We live in a hard water area btw.

ImperialBlether · 13/08/2014 09:31

You should use the Flash Magic Sponge - it's absolutely amazing, particularly on shower doors. You don't use a spray with it - it literally rubs out the marks.

ThrowAChickenInTheAir · 13/08/2014 09:48

Omg 80smum can I send my lot over for training with you?

That is exactly in my dreams how I'd like the bathroom to be left but I'm lucky if anyone remembers to pick up the towels afterwards let alone clean the bathroomHmm

In answer to op I use limelight/viakel etc and elbow grease. However I was told recently by 'man in bathroom showroom' that Cillit bang etc aren't good for bathrooms (ie if it gets on door trims etc) as it's so strong.

I must admit the shiny trim on my shower door looks marked and I wonder if it's something I used. Tricky though, we live in a very hard water area and lime scale is a battle.

annabanana19 · 13/08/2014 14:21

I have this microfibre wipe thing I use every time im in there. Cost me 49p!

Olddear · 14/08/2014 11:48

Those white magic eraser sponges.

Icelollycraving · 14/08/2014 16:33

I use a cloth with cif once a week. Method shower spray at other times. Intrigued at the drying the shower etc after every use,my dh would not do that!

dashoflime · 14/08/2014 16:35

Cream Cleaner and rinse with the shower head. When it starts looking really grubby. I sometimes spray bleach into the corners to try and stop mould growing there.

WallyBantersJunkBox · 14/08/2014 16:38

Washing up liquid in hot water with a scrubby sponge. Then I have one of those Karcher window vacuum things to dry it off with.

I read an interesting email that WD 40 can keep it clean though? (WD meaning Water Dispersant) I can copy in the text if you like?

DarkBlueEyes · 15/08/2014 21:16

Sounds like you have a limescale issue, as do we. The most important thing is not to let water settle on the door. If your family cannot be trained to use a squeegy then try using a daily shower spray, they work really well. The Method one is good and so is the Astonish one (but much, much cheaper). Might pay to start by using diluted white vinegar in a spray bottle to get the limescale out and then use the daily spray. Perfect solution for lazy people!

tess73 · 16/08/2014 19:42

Seriously try the squeegee. When I got it dh was all "I don't have time for it blah blah" but he is the most conscientious at doing it. Dd2 is great. Dd1 never but I just do it after her takes 2 mins and not worth the fight. Am still trying to get her not to leave clothes on floor and wet towels on bed ...

Stengor · 17/08/2014 09:10

Limelite - works a treat. Sainsburys do their own cheaper version.
