Rust marks on carpet - help!

Iron bed frame has left rust marks on the carpet - have moved the bed and they are now very visible - is there any way of getting them off? The carpet is otherwise in fab condition.

Hi - try lemon juice and salt. Soak rust spot with lemon juice then sprinkle with salt. Try to keep the area damp with lemon juice for 24 hours. Then blot the area with a clean cloth. You can also buy rust removing products in DIY stores, but check you can use them on carpet.

If you are putting another bed in the same place, is it worth worrying about?

You can use castor cups or even thick felt pads on the feet if the bed to stop it marking the carpet in other areas.

Thanks wow - we're not replacing the bed and the marks will be very visible so this is definitely worth a try!

Let us know if it works!

I've never heard of this lemon juice tip before..sounds potentially very useful to know. Smells nice too!

I don't what the chemistry behind it is, but lemon juice and salt is the traditional method for cleaning old-fashioned copper pans too, to get rid of tarnish/stop them rusting.

I'm doing it later and will report back Smile
