Best 4 slice toaster?

NoRoomForALittleOne · 07/08/2014 13:33

Our toaster is about to get thrown out by DH so we need a new one. I'm open to most prices but it does have to produce even toast without taking an age. Ideas please.

Hello. This thread is a little old now and some of the recommendations may be out of date. Take a look at our round-up of the best toasters - according to Mumsnetters - for more up-to-date suggestions. MNHQ.

No help, but after the same thing. Not Morphy Richards coloured ones. Slowest toaster in the world!

OutDamnSpot · 07/08/2014 14:47

According to Which (DH is obsessed and their word is gospel), Breville Aurora is best 4 slice. Does say its a bit slow though, although Morphy Richards is slower. In fact all the 4 slice ones are slower than the two slices ones on the Which test. Maybe get 2 2 slice ones Grin.

Interesting. We've hit Brevilles at work at they have survived 600 people making breakfast and lunch for 2 years.

If you find a good one that fits normal sized bread in I will be impressed. I'm fed up of having to either turn my warburtons bread round half way through or cut the top off in my toaster. It's a 4 slice breville one.

Are Dualits worth it?

WaffleWiffle · 07/08/2014 19:01

Having spent large amounts of money on "just" a 4 slice toaster several times now - we have come to the conclusion that you get no better longevity from a cheap toaster than an expensive one.

A toaster tends to last us 2-3 years regardless of how expensive it is. So we now never spend more than £30 on one.

I've been trying to find a stainless steel 4 slice/2 long slots toaster without success Sad

Think I'll have to try to fix the old one that stopped clicking in the "down" position.....

(currently using an old white one that doesn't match the kitchen ShockWink)

I agree, and it's not just toasters, but kettles & microwaves in our household...

snoggle · 09/08/2014 10:12

Dualit. Had ours 15yrs and still fine. If the elements ever do go you just buy one to slot in. I reckon it's good value on a cost per slice basis.

Kettles otoh......never last more than a year in this house!

I have a swan brushed steel 4 slice which cooks evenly and also holds a full slice of toast. I've never had to turn any around to get it to cook.

Labrat72 · 14/09/2014 13:46

I have a Morphy Richards & curse it every time I use it. It takes forever and it toasts unevenly.
I came on here to start a thread about which one to buy but there's already a thread :)
Any one else got any recommendations? I was going to get a Dualit but everything I read tells me that while the older ones are brilliant, the new ones are rubbish.
I like the look of the Heston B Sage one at Lakeland but it's £170 ish! Thats a lot for a toaster. Not sure I can justify paying out quite that much.
