How often do you change yours? How do you clean it? Is there an easier way to keep them clean and stop orange marks on them than scrubbing by hand?

Mine are towelling and so I chuck them in the wash once a week with my towels wash.

PeoplesFrontOfJudea · 29/07/2014 16:37

Btw, what orange marks?

sinisterfish · 29/07/2014 16:38

chuck out and a buy a new one when they get manky, i have a hot pink one that stays pink!

Peoples we live in a hard water area so I'm guessing it's a build up of soapy water?
I've binned it, going to buy a new one tomorrow. Hopefully ds will be ok in bath tonight without.

You mean the non slip in the bath kind rather than the fabric stepping out of the bath onto kind.

I chucked ours into the washing machine with washing soda crystals and that did the job. With Ds1 we had a white rubber mat and I was always replacing it when it got a bit manky. With Ds2 (5 years later) I bought a clear one that looks like pebble shapes all joined together. It's much easier to keep clean.

Ah, do you mean the rubber ones the non slip things that go in the bath? We never used them, I hate the feel of them, but those I know who do/have have just rinsed & dried them after every bath and bleached them once a week as part of their "big" bathroom clean.

If you mean the rubber one, then a good way to keep it clean is to make sure it dries after you use it, so give it a quick rinse to get the soap off and stick it up with its little suckers on the tiles above the bath or shower screen - it shouldn't get slimy / mildewy underneath then.

I pick it up and rinse with the shower after each use and then hang to dry. surely it would be revolting after a few days if you didn't? even washing it daily, if I bath my toddler after a messy dinner time, I find all the dirt hides under the mat.
