Kitchen cleaning gem

Thanks to someone on another thread on here, I've tried sugar soap to clean the kitchen today: it's a miracle! The grime just seems to float off and no horrible chemical smell either.

I've also found that as I was already up a ladder I could use it to clean the paintwork without switching to a different product or worrying about lifting the paint off.

Do you reckon it works inside the oven too?

I don't know about sugar soap in the oven, I've never tried it. but I know that a product called Astonish works well in ovens, it's virtually chemically free, I have multiple chemical sensitivity, which has a been an absolute pain. I can tolerate Astonish though. You leave it on for a few minutes. It works on baths and sinks too! soda crystals are another, completely fragrance free one too!

Sugar soap is brillant.
I use it on the skirting boards and kitchen cupboards.

Well it's worked okay on the inside of the oven door and I've sprayed some onto the oven floor and will leave it a while. If it doesn't work I've got Oven Pride in the cupboard.

Oooo I bought some ages ago and never used it!

What else can I do with it?

figgypuddings · 22/07/2014 19:19

And T Cut on the enamel bits of the cooker! It comes up really shiny.

I think I might clean everything with sugar soap from now on - the kitchen is gleaming. It worked a treat on the cooker hood which I had to take apart for new filters, stainless steel shelves, tops of cupboards which I had neglected for a while. Best result for me was the wall cupboard doors either side of the cooker hood. No matter what I have done before, I have always been able to see a film of grease in certain light: not this time!

Will recommend to my DF as he is heavily into cooking and making things and regularly cleans his kitchen (far more often than I do).

I am going to sugar soap my kitchen today! I am inspired!

Where can I buy sugar soap (and does it exist in France?!)?

wowfudge · 23/07/2014 14:17

Hi EmGee - I bought it from B&Q. I just bought a spray, but you can buy powder and make it up with water. I looked it up last night to see what's in it and there is a section here about sugar soap in France.
