Washing machine "quick" wash - what do you use it for?

My machine has two "quick" washes - a 29 and a 44 minute wash.

I rarely use them; I tend to go for either the 2hr 40 degree wash or the slightly shorter 30 degree wash.

So, what do you use them for?

I have only ever used my 30 minute wash as everything comes out super clean. 30 minutes and persil capsules work for me.

CarpeJugulum · 20/07/2014 09:00

Not really a full load, it's just DH's shirt and my top from the day before; maybe a pair of trousers every second day. Would just mean my washing wouldn't have to become Mount Washmore once I'm back at work; weekends could be used for fun stuff and not house stuff.

check the manuals as well.
my quick wash uses loads of water and electricity, about double of the regular wash with the same temperature.
plus it doesn't really get things clean.

Mine has a 30 min quick wash and I use it a lot lately. I figured the clothes weren't that dirty. Also clothes seem to last a little longer. Baby clothes that are stained and undies and bibs and whites get a full wash.

AntoinetteCosway · 20/07/2014 09:19

I use a 30 min 40 degree wash for everything except towels, sheets and handwash stuff.

LadyWithLapdog · 20/07/2014 09:23

32 min for shortest wash - for everything.

Only v dirty stuff or 'hand wash' get special treatment. Then I'll look through the settings and chose what I fancy.

weegiemum · 20/07/2014 09:26

Our machine has a 15 min wash - I use it for everything that isn't covered in ground-in dirt!

Questionsquestionsquestions123 · 20/07/2014 09:27

Use quick wash all the time! So I can get out quicker rather than wait for the machine... (Clothes are hardly dirty though)

CarpeJugulum · 20/07/2014 09:33

Well, just done my first wash - and I honestly can't tell the difference between the full wash and the quick wash. Clothes smell the same, look the same and are just as clean.

I think I'll still use the full wash for towels, bedding etc, but this will make life so much easier.

I use mine for new towels and sheets and duvet covers and stuff.

If something is new on but the kids drop something on it I can stick it straight in.

Some of my clothes because i wear most things once.

Its brilliant if I want something but have forgotten to wash it. I can wash it and dry it and still have it in time for work the same morning.

The wonders of modern life Grin

cosikitty · 20/07/2014 11:14

I use a quick wash for most things, over two hours id a ridiculous amount of time for clothes to be swishing around, it wears them out.

I only use a full wash for really dirty things, like heavily stained stuff, bedding, and sometimes towels.

picnicbasketcase · 20/07/2014 11:17

Everything. Why would you use a programme that takes hours when you can do it in 40mins or less?

Heathcliff27 · 20/07/2014 11:22

Mine had a 30 min 30 deg, 44 min 40 deg and 59 min 60 deg, I use the 44 and 59 all the time for everything, usually 44 for darks and 59 for whites. Only ever use the long wash programme for my sons boiler suits and also for the bag of stinking stuff he took home from t in the park, in fact all that went in twice.

Littlefish · 20/07/2014 11:22

I use my 30 minute programme for everything except towels and bedding.

BornOfFrustration · 20/07/2014 11:24

I use the 14 minute wash for swimming stuff and some of mine and DD's clothes that aren't too dirty, she's only 2 so no sweaty smells yet.

Socks and jocks go on a 59 minute 60 degree wash, as do towels and bedding.

Everything else goes on a 59 minute wash at 40.

I sound organised but I have a mountain of stuff to get through.

nottheparrot · 20/07/2014 12:36

When we moved to our current house, we inherited a machine with a 35m quick wash. We use it for everything - how I ever lived without it! Very occasionally, we do a longer wash if things are very dirty, but that is rare. The next machine we buy will definitely have a quick wash programme!

e1y1 · 20/07/2014 23:35

I only use my 30 min quick wash for a t-shirt etc. if I need it asap.

I can't bring myself to do my full loads in it; I think about all the dirt and detergent that could be left in the clothing, and the machine.

But I am old fashioned, although only 26 Grin; I do nearly all my whites on 95 or 60 degrees, yes white clothes, sheets and towels.

Then colour fast colours on 60 and non colour fast on 40.

Then delicates as separate on the delicates cycle.

It's good that so many people use the quick wash and are happy, however, I couldn't do it.

passmethewineplease · 20/07/2014 23:39

I use it for things that are needed quickly and aren't really dirty. Although at the moment anything DD wears end up covered in all sorts..

Mintyy · 20/07/2014 23:44

I never use it. I always wash full loads on the most robust cycle I think the clothes can stand. The 60 deg cottons cycle on my Bosch takes 2 hrs 45 mins!

dottyaboutstripes · 20/07/2014 23:45

I use it a lot but as someone else said it's meant for a small quantity of laundry (I've put too much in and some will come out bone dry as it hadn't even got washed)
Didn't realise it cost more until dh pointed it out a couple of weeks ago - but the regular cycle takes almost 3 HOURS so it's a pita

WallyBantersJunkBox · 20/07/2014 23:45

Swimming costumes and towels.
Cushion covers
Fabric placemats and table runners
Trainers wrapped in a towel
Mop heads and duster heads
Sofa throws
Christmas tree skirt
