Removing stickers (from every surface possible!)

SurfBoredCat · 27/06/2014 09:40

Does anyone have any tips on how to remove stickers from wood, mirrors, painted surfaces - just about every surface imaginable?

DC went on a sticking spree and I tried to get them off but they have left that sticky greyish residue and it looks awful so I've left the rest.

Stickers are all types: paper, foil, plasticky, foam and don't want to budge!

Sticky Stuff Remover. does exactly what the name suggests!

I saw on tv once (may have been Kim and Aggie) that mayonnaise works too. I haven't tried myself but it def worked on the programme.

You can buy an HG product that works very well - try an ironmonger that stocks the HG brand.

No sticky stuff remover in stock anywhere so must be good!
Got some wd40 and planning on getting stuck in tomorrow.
Am tempted to try the mayonnaise option though!

I used to have something called desolvit. Couldn't find it though the other day. It is also great on stains.

Rubbing alcohol from the chemist works a treat. OH has some stuff called MetSolv which is amazing, he gets it for cleaning his motorbike so maybe try a car spares shop? Agree WS40 is fab too, also gets pen off furniture

YouLoveItDoreen · 27/06/2014 17:53

Mr sheen other multi surface cleaners are available worked for me. But WD40 will probably do just as well, it is such a handy product to have.

MrsFreddieThreepwood · 27/06/2014 17:58

Just foraged in the shed and it is definitely MetSolv , sold for degreasing bits of vehicles, it will do the trick if all else fails

You are amazing people!
Got the wd40 onto it and the stickers are all gone and the units/mirror looks like new!

Olive oil works - tip from my lovely mil. Most people have it in the house too so no need for special products.
