Armpits in clothes

Please please tell me how to remove the fusty smell. It's not even sweaty, it's just fusty. I use deodorant, I wash regularly and change tops regularly but it's awful, even on new tops. It's starting to make me feel disgusting and dirty.

No idea but I have the same problem. Only on black tops though.

BertieBotts · 23/06/2014 08:31

Some of them are stained white from the deodorant as well.

Vinegar?

gamerchick · 23/06/2014 08:34

You can soak them in something.. I'm still trying to figure out what though, Is it nappy solution?

CheerfulYank · 23/06/2014 08:39

Apparently you can also pretreat with a mix of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.

FuckyNell · 23/06/2014 08:41

Nap island is your friend

FuckyNell · 23/06/2014 08:42

Ha ha napisan

BertieBotts · 23/06/2014 08:52

Wouldn't hydrogen peroxide bleach all the colour out??

I'll have to try some kind of nappy solution. I live in Germany so don't know if they have napisan here but they must have something?

I don't think it does. Bleach the color out, I mean. I've tried it on a few things before and it's removed the stain. You can't leave it on for ages though. Maybe try it on a non-important top first!

ghostisonthecanvas · 23/06/2014 09:01

I am going to try napisan. DH has teeshirts that need some proper tlc. If it doesn't work, it doesn't matter cos they are so bad I will chuck them. I just wondered if it has to be napisan or does any similar brand work?

FuckyNell · 23/06/2014 09:52

Someone has mentioned biotex too but I've not tried that.

I like napisan because

A. It works

B. it reminds me of when my kids were babies

I've found that white vinegar helps. I put 50% white vinegar and 50% fabric conditioner into the fabric conditioner compartment and wash as normal. It's a bit worrying the first time you do it because you think your clothes are going to come out smelling like a chip shop, but the vinegar smell doesn't linger. If it's really bad you can also make a paste out of bicarbonate of soda, spread it over the pit area, leave it to dry, them wash as normal.

BertieBotts · 23/06/2014 10:14

I've done vinegar before and it does make everything really fresh :) It doesn't help armpits though!

Have you tried the vanish bar? I also rate that for armpits!!

Beehatch · 23/06/2014 10:21

Do you use bio washing powder? I'd try a pre soak in bio then as hot a wash as you can manage.

BertieBotts · 23/06/2014 10:24

No, I'm in Germany so I can't get british products.

I don't think they have bio/non bio here, I haven't noticed it on the packets.
