cleaning bathroom floor with toothpaste?!!

helloo, I have textured vinyl in the bathroom - the non-slip stuff. It's light green (or used to be many years ago). dust etc accumulates in the dips, and I can't clean it apparently. Mops, steam mops, scrubbing with a brush... Kids spilt toothpaste. It dried, I cleaned it up with my chunky microfibre cloth - sparkling clean in that patch. I tried using same cloth just with water - no way the same level of clean. So - should I use toothpaste on the entire floor (yikes) or is there something else which would have the same effect??
TIA!

Would cream cleaner like Cif do the same thing? It's abrasive and would probably be cheaper than several tubes of toothpaste! I used to have a pot of orange scented cleaning paste which was good for stainless steel sinks too, will see if I can find it.

I think it was something like this

thanks for this, i have the same problem, somehow red paint got onto my white textured vinyl

thanks Doing - cif (or Jif as I still think of it!) is a good idea... just need to get motivated to do the entire floor.. On thinking about it, I think what has worked is that a paste has got right into all the nooks and crannies, and plenty of water has flushed it all out, including all the gack.
I'll see if I can get Jif or the nice smelling stuff and give it a go!

shall report back.

Cif (well the asda version) didn't work. Mil arrives Saturday - situation urgent! Any other ideas???

Bi carbonate of soda? Old fashioned way might work?

well, I tried cif again - left on for 20mins, then scrubbed, then rinsed - worked. just very labour intensive, and requires alot of rinsing. however, will be worth it (I hope!). first fifth of the bathroom floor done...

have run out of bicarb, or would have tried that. I think the key stage is letting the cleaning agent 'settle' - then it will really lift out the dirt.

sleeves will be rolled up tonight! It is at least, some relief from the non-stop football Wink
