Mr Muscle sink and plughole unblocker.

first pull as many hairs as you can from the plughole.
(ewwww I know)

longwaytogo · 06/09/2006 15:01

Have pulled all hair away as some has sort of come to surface the other day so took it all out.

What about one of those plunger things?

Cillit bang - hideous name, but it's all that's worked in our house. Purple bottle with a yellow cap - stain and drain I think.

CarlK · 06/09/2006 15:20

A plunger could work but probably won't remove the gunge properly meaning it could re-block quickly.

Don't use a plunger after using Mr Muscle unless you like chemical burns

Bozza · 06/09/2006 15:22

on our shower the drain comes out and there is a small tube that also comes out and that can be ungunged - removed of all my hair.

longwaytogo · 06/09/2006 15:29

Bozza do you mean the drain outside? Showere cubicle just looks like ordinary plug hole without being able to put plug in it iyswim

This is utterly grim, but we used to have the same prob in our shower cubicle (new one had an easier access plughole). I used to have to put the pointy end of a tailcomb down the plughole and literally tease the manky hair out of the drain. BTW - rotting hair smells baaaaaaaaaaad

CarlK · 06/09/2006 15:49

Some are removable they have a screw in the middle.

longwaytogo · 06/09/2006 15:57

right I'm off to see if it has screw in the middle with peg over my nose. ewwwwwwwwww will report back

right 15 mins or so later and is now free flowing after teasing out with a screwdriver loads of minging hair. Gross. Think I will shave all our heads then that will get rid of that problem and the lovely headlice problem. Wonder how long that quick fix will last then. Not a job I fancy repeating on a regular basis.

I meant the plug hole bit. Ours doesn't have a screw in, it just slots into place. And it is only me with the hair. The kids don't use that shower and DH has a no. 1.

NomDePlume · 06/09/2006 18:05

longwaytogo, I found that doing it once a month/once every couple of months kept it down to a manageable level.

ANAconda · 07/09/2006 20:24

we had this problem (DP's hair is her crowning glory) and hugely reduced it by putting one of those plug hole strainer things you normally put in kitchen sinks to stop all the crap going down over the shower one. can't remember theh last time i had to do anything serious with it, but do also chuck washing soda crystals down it and flush with hot water every so often (thank you kim and aggie!)
