Hi everyone,
Im after some advice and possibly some recommendations please. I work part-time and have a beautiful dd of almost two years old. I have recently been toying with the idea of getting a cleaner and wondered if anyone had any advicefor someone who is relatively obsessed with hygiene, hiring a cleaner! Dont get me wrong, my house is never spotless and the mess a toddler can make in half an hour is akin to the aftermath of a hurricane, so Im not a clean freak or anything. But when I do my housework, I like it done a certain way and Im especially anal about the kitchen, bathroom and wooden floors. My husband has been against us looking for a cleaner for this reason because he believes Ill still clean anyway and I want to be sure Im confident enough with the decision, not to, because we also arent made of money so this would be a luxury for us.
I work two days a week which might not seem like much but I still find it a drag to get all of the housework, washing and ironing done each week without it feeling like its never-ending. There have also been arguments between DH and I, who used to be great around the house before we had a baby but now Im home more I think he thinks there isnt so much of a requirement for his input and when he does help, its normally whilst groaning a little which is more than a bit annoying! I do understand to some degree as he works long hours and his main reason for not doing his share is so that he can spend his time off with our daughter and Id never begrudge him that. It would be nice not to feel like a slave to it all though and its the ironing I find hardest to keep up with and I cannot and would not pay most ironing services prices so I figured that if I could get someone else to do the rest of the housework then I can quite easily manage the washing and ironing each week. What do you ladies think? Ive always done my own cleaning, as have all my close family members and its just recently that some friends have employed cleaners, that it got me thinking again. Im not a frivolous person so its tough to weigh it up but it might be worth giving it a try if we can find the right person for the job.
Ive done a few internet searches but ideally Id like an independent local cleaner, rather than a company so recommendations would be better. However, a lot of my friends dont live locally so I cant get them from them. If any of you have anyone that youve used and perhaps feel the same as me in terms of standards, then I would really appreciate the details. Im looking for two hours a week I think and would like them to be CRB checked and trustworthy of course.
Thanks in advance x
